About this property
Charming 3-bedroom farmhouse with WiFi, AC on the outskirts of Hocking Hills.
Destination Dirt is a 5 acre homestead my husband and I started in 2023 in an attempt to integrate regenerative agriculture into our lives as well as into our community. We hope to encourage our guests to drink up the richness our land offers through the biodiversity of our wildlife, flora and the integration of livestock into the natural environment. We invite you to stay, unplug and recuperate at a slower pace of life.
We value living a chemical, synthetic fragrance, and plastic free lifestyle in order to promote a more sustainable environment, so you will notice our home is set up a little less conventionally than some, but includes all the comforts of home.
Please refrain from using products with synthetic fragrance whether it be soaps, hair products, perfumes, laundry products, cleaning products, etc., inside the house as they contain hormone disrupting chemicals. The basement is also off limits to guests as it is used for personal storage.
Enjoy a soak in our wood fired hot tub or a steam cleanse in the wood fired sauna. These amenities do take time to heat up to the appropriate temperatures due to being wood fired, so take that into consideration and plan accordingly. I recommend starting the hot tub fire approximately 2 hours prior to use and adding to it regularly to get it over 100 degrees internal temperature. Instructions for both hot tub and sauna will be accessible on site.
We try to keep our outside shoes off throughout the entire house to minimize the tracking in of animal waste as this is a working farm and it's more common to encounter around the exterior of the home. Feel free to bring indoor footwear if you prefer to have foot coverage indoors.
We utilize a Roku system with a remote for the television. Feel free to log in to your streaming service of choice through the Roku system. We no longer have a remote to actual the tv, but the controls are located along the right hand side of the tv for volume, input and power controls.
The wifi modem is also located just below the tv, with the information and password on the lefthand side on a yellow sticker.
In an attempt to reduce waste, we do not utilize trash bags. Put garbage in the black trash can and recyclables in the white trash can. If the trash can is full, there is a rolling curb trash can outside of the laundry room door. If the recycling is full, it can be emptied in the red barrel in the garage. If you're unsure about what can and cannot be recycled, we have a recycling guide on the wall by the indoor receptacles.
We also try to compost any food scraps. There will be a lidded bucket below the sink for food waste (no plastic or stickers). If the bucket somehow gets full, we have our compost hub between the outdoor shed and the crab apple tree. Just empty the compost into the black receptacle and ensure the lid is locked when you're done.
We do operate a working farm, so I may be onsite on occasion to take care of farm operations, but will give notice when I intend to arrive. I ask that you do not touch or feed the animals without direct supervision from myself or my husband. This includes entering any pens, sheds, greenhouses or garden areas.
If anyone in your party would like to camp, we rent out tent usage as well if they are not currently in use.
