Pleased we found this vacation home!
Our family of 8 adults, a 5 year old and 2 two-year olds had plenty of room in the house and on the grounds (which include not only a small swimming pool, hot tub and sauna but a badminton court, a boccie court and plenty of lawn for small soccer games). The on-site property manager (Elodie) patiently answered all of our questions ahead of time, met us on arrival and came to see us off as we left after a week's stay. The rental includes welcoming staff members who prepare and kindly serve breakfast (delicious croissants, baguette, juice, coffee, tea if desired, fruit, eggs etc.) and do light housecleaning each morning. Having them help keep everything comfortable and straightened up for our family of 11 was a treat. The house seems to be in a fairly new development;l this property is one of the largest in the neighborhood. We appreciated its privacy. The panoramic view from the house is of a hillside filled with banana trees which not only reinforces the sense of privacy but is green and beautiful. While there aren't many mosquitoes around, we recommend bringing some bug repellent since "no-see-ums" come out at night.
The location was great for us with a small town beach in Le Vauclin about a 10 minute drive away; a large grocery store in Le Francois about 25 minutes away; a trip to Fort de France not too long for even the little ones in our family; and beach trips to the Caribbean coast and (especially) to the beaches at Plage des Salines near Sainte Anne. We prefer the small waves and swells of the Atlantic beaches-- which are gentle enough for even the two year olds to play safely in the sand by the water. For a truly idyllic location, follow the dirt road along and past the beach and down a deeply rutted road to the beach beside the parking area to the Savge de Petrifications (Savannah of Petified Trees). The return to the house with its outdoor shower was a treat all week long!
