The corridors are looking a bit shabby now, but the apartments were fine. Friendly staff, but with lots of rules and you're not allowed to take ski boots into your rooms. Good location for ski-in ski-out, but a bit of a trek to and from the bus station if you're travelling that way.

Overall good
Overall very good. Father & son ski holiday. Pros
Ski in and out excellent facility with excellent storage for ski gear - once you work out where to enter off the slope. Simple clean spacious if not dated decor. The flat has a nice layout and you can spend a week here comfortably & contrary to other reviews reception is very helpful (esp Anna) when its open.
Cons
Constant cigarette smoke come through the kitchen and bathroom vents. I had a blocked nose throughout, really unhappy that my 11 yrs old exposed. Its a design failure so no point complaining to reception.

Fantastic location
I travelled to the Tourotel expecting the worst given a lot of the reviews, and was pleasantly surprised and can only suggest those giving such poor reviews haven't stayed in ski accommodation before or hadn't looked at any of the photos.
Yes it's basic (as are most ski accommodations), but they are well equipped (I've attached the inventory of the 2 bed apartment), and the mountain facing balcony rooms have the best view of any accommodation I've stayed in the alps.
Sheets and towels came in sealed polythene bags, and microwave grill, and kettle were fine as was the drop down dining table.
The half-size bath is pretty standard in French accommodation.
My only issue throughout the whole week was the non stop beeping of the many many skidoos that buzz up and down the slopes right outside the room from 07:00 onwards all day. That isn't a complaint the residence can ever do anything about, and is a result of being so close to the slopes (you can't have it all ways). Not noticed the sheer numbers of skidoos in other resorts before, but then haven't had a room fronting the main piste in quite the same way so not sure if it's a Val Thorens specific problem or not.
Great location on the piste. Just old room with old appliances and kinda grungy.

We have stayed many times at this hotel. It is cheap and cheerful. The upstairs has been re-decorated and is lovely. This is true ski-in ski-out accommodation and that is why we love it. The bathroom is small and you have to have a sit down bath/shower. The kitchen is small too but for a cheap skiing holiday it is perfect. Brilliant location for slopes and the shops and restaurants. It can be noisy, but the hotel staff are very good at addressing this.
Ski lockers provided.
Excellent location, ski to door but yet quiet at night. Less than 5 min to main street.
Wish i had known there is no double bed in small accomodation. Only small tub with no curtain to shower: very uncomfortable and unpractical.
this was a great place for ski in ski out room was small but very good price for location

No thrills accommodation right next to the slopes
I'm going to start by saying the convenience of this hotel is it's most favorable point, it is right on the slopes, and there is a supermarket directly opposite and a lift to the main bars in the town.
The room itself is small, we had a studio which was 2 sofa's which doubled as single beds. The bathroom doesn't have a proper shower, just a half sized bath with a shower attachment, so expect to sit cross legged to shower! There was a small kitchen with fridge and microwave which were very handy.
Free WiFi is available, but only in reception, and it worked reasonably well.

If you like snow ...
This is not a hotel to enjoy as such, it's basic and cheep and the staff are great. Yes, the rooms are small and purely functional, but that's not the point. It's where it's that counts. It's way above the tree line nestled one of the best bowls of powder in the Alps.
