Hotels.com posted free parking but it was incorrect. The hotel charged us for parking and told us that they never offer free parking.

We got upgraded to the Gil Blas parador adjacent to parador we booked because so few guests and latter was closed when we arrived. The building itself is a marvel and staff was lovely. Gil Blas in need of serious rehab however. The bar area, carpets and upholstery throughout were very worn and even all the lamp shades were worn. It would take some bucks but it could easily be done with taste consistent with historical period.
Delightful hotel in centre of beautiful restored Cantabrian village. Excellent room, reasonable breakfast and dinner. Has plenty of parking. Near to coast and half an hour from Santander
The Parador hotel is situated in an historic building in the centre of the town, with on-site parking. The room was large and comfortable, but dark. Breakfast was good. Staying in January we were in the off season. The town of Santillana del Mar was almost shut, therefore necessitating eating in the hotel restaurant for dinner. The food quality was very poor.

Beautiful location - Parador needs to improve
Our main complaint is that the shower was terrible. After a long hot drive you expect to have a shower that works properly. Both the shower and the tap in the bathroom had very low pressure. Additionally, it either trickled out cold or as soon as you turned the mixer to hot it went scolding hot. Consequently it was dreadful. We were in the new part of the parador across from the older one (we weren't aware of this when we booked). We didn't enjoy the half board dinner - not very well cooked. Only the dessert was what we would expect from such a place. However the breakfast was excellent - well cooked and loads of choice, and the waitress a delight.
A return visit to this delightful accommodation set in the le own of Santilliana..perfect setting, quiet , the hotel staff are friendly andhelpful. Ample breakfast with plenty of choice.
Must follow signs to the paradores very carefully since the town is car free.
Better than 3 stars, specially after upgrading, + € 30, well spend for a lovely deck making the room so much more roomy and enjoyable. Great way to rest with a glass of bubbly before diner.
Location could not be any better right in the center of such an old town and yet convenient to drive to other places like Santander, 30 mins. away.
Very clean and well man twin property.
Confortable all around.
Helpful staff.

Adequate but not outstanding Parador
Bathroom dated, needs a revamp. Soundproofing not great, problem if a guest upstairs is an early riser or has a weak bladder!Bar & restaurant is in nearby Parador Gil Blas.Difficult to find by car. Santillana is a lovely place with some great restaurants.
Wonderful stay even though it poured rain, and the location is rather out-of-the-way. Very quiet location with patter of rain from an open window made for a great night's sleep. Dinner was across the way at another related Parador, but served very good food. The Alta Mira Caves are 1 km. from property, which was also well-worth the drive.
Typical parador comfort and style with attentive staff above the usual standard. This is not a particularly historic parador but its position in the centre of Santillana and comfort plus parking is both restful and convenient
