We enjoyed our stay at Esqina, the room was small but clean and perfectly suited our needs. We felt safe while staying here and I would recommended it to anyone that’s looking for a place to rest their heads without needing all the frills and amenities of a larger hotel. It’s also very central to the different places in Lisbon that you’d want to go.

We had an amazing stay here, the hotel has been mainly renovated, I believe they are still working on an upper floor, but that didn't affect us at all. The room was very clean, the shower was huge with a window in it. We had two other windows that opened right up, one had a bench and the views where amazing. The location for exploring Lisbon couldn't be better and the prices were very reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

This property is in a great location. However, it takes minimalism to a whole new level. My room was so small that I could not open my suitcase and walk in the room at the same time. And there was no closet or drawers or any way to really unpack the suitcase. It is in a busy area so it is quite loud until about midnight. I felt like it was overpriced for what it was. That being said, it was a clean and adequate and they did provide me with a small bottle of wine and some pastries, which was nice. There is no kettle or coffee in the room (or even in the lobby), so I would’ve preferred that over the wine.

The property is a great location and very clean. I was a little shocked by the size of the room. The bathroom is very small and faces the bed with a pocket door. The room is slightly bigger than than the bed. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Title: Terrible Experience – This Should Not Be Rated as a 4-Star Hotel Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I deeply regret booking this hotel through Expedia. It was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve had. The bathroom had a constant foul smell that was never addressed. The bottled water provided was visibly dirty, which is simply unacceptable. The room had broken fixtures and was in poor condition overall. The area around the hotel felt unsafe, with people loitering and begging outside day and night. I felt so uncomfortable and concerned for my safety that I checked out a full day early — at my own expense. To make matters worse, despite raising these issues, the hotel denied everything and claimed I never said a word during my stay — which is completely untrue. They took no responsibility, and Expedia’s support, while polite, was ultimately limited in resolving the issue. This hotel is currently listed as four stars, which is extremely misleading. In reality, it barely deserves two. I urge Expedia to re-evaluate this listing, and I strongly advise fellow travelers to stay away from this property.

Property is perfectly located to visit all the sights. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed 4 nights. The weather was such that we had the window open for fresh air and it does get noisy, but that is the be expected on a busy tourist street. Once the window was closed, it was very quiet. The bathroom area is small, but worked fine for 2 people. The key code for the doors is nice so you don't have to keep up with a key.

Seven nights- April 2025

Hotel located one street over from the famous pedestrian street; Rua Augusta. Just a few minutes walk from Baixa-Chiado Metro station. Very walkable area. My room was large, spaced, light filled and immaculately clean, with a modern bathroom. I had a great 7 nights stay here. Front desk staff were so helpful and pleasant.

The front desk staff are very nice. They made the check in process easy. The next morning they confirmed everything was good in the room. They are under construction, but not too noisy. I recommend this hotel. Amazing location with walking distance to many places.

Great location for walking around Lisbon near sight seeing. Easy to get to neighborhood restaurants and bars that weren’t all touristy. Close to public transportation (Metro, Trams, Bus and Train) Staff accommodating to requests and helpful for local suggestions.Room very clean, sufficient space but no closet or drawers. Hooks and shelves for clothes. Good coffee provided with French Press in room as well as tea. Above a pastry shop so breakfast was easy to grab! No lounge or chairs for a lobby. One chair in room. Walk up one flight to elevator if needed so it is not accessible for those who cannot do stairs. Security is good: safe provided in room and exterior door from street and individual room use codes.

I don't think Esqina Urban Lodge is considered a 4 star property. The staff were very polite but the Hotel/Lodge was not the greatest. I should have done more research before booking Esqina as I was not aware the elevator was on the 1st floor (we had to take the stairs up to the 1st floor, to access the elevator) and the elevator was very small (only fit my partner and 2 of our medium sized suitcases). The facility was runned-down but the room was clean and smelled good. The room had all the necessities but we wished the room had a closet to store our belongings and more shelf space in the bathroom. The location was perfect because it was close to all the attractions/sightseeing points and transportation but the street Esqina is on is a bit dirty. Overall, Esqina is great for individuals who don’t care for the small things and just need a place to sleep. Personally, I wouldn’t book this accommodation again because we missed having the perks of a 4 star/5 star accommodation.
