I am deeply saddened I was not able to stay at the Eurostar Universal Lisboa in October, during my birthday. I spoke with two hotel staff Rafeal who stated they will refund the money I did not receive it. The hotels holding on to money I was not able to utilize and the sad that they doing this to a person who's disabled. Due to my sickness I was not traveling I also obtained insurance. I contacted Expedia, Eurostar Universal Lisboa and AIG; they all have given me the run around. Due to my disability, I was unable to reach my destination by the original mode of transportation, nor did I have any other accessible or safe means of reaching Lisbon. This situation I could not complete my trip or arrive at my destination through any available means.I canceled my reservation at Eurostars Hotel in 24 hours. Keep in mind in the USA. In the a.m., a full day in advance, following the proper procedures required by both the hotel and AIG Travel Guard. I also purchased travel insurance specifically to protect against such unforeseen circumstances.
It is deeply concerning that they have not refunded me. I acted in good faith, and the funds withheld for a hotel stay I could not use constitute an unfair and inconsistent application of the policy. This situation has caused unnecessary financial and emotional distress, especially as the trip was meant to celebrate my birthday to Lisbon where I have never been and was not able to see or enjoy. I have still not received my refund. Be aware.
