This was the perfect spot for a solo traveller on a short trip. The hotel staff were always friendly and hospitable and the room was very cute and comfortable. Yes, you do get the noise of the trains and the street, and the walls are pretty thin, but this only adds to the charm of the place. I loved my stay and will definitely be back.
Sadly although the location was great the service in the evening and what the facility portrayed a “superior double” to be an what we actually had - 5 winding stair cases later to reach - was very different.
The pillows were like sacks and when we went down to reception in the evening to request more (why only provide 2 for a double and 1 spare?) the night staff didn’t know where they were kept and so couldn’t actually help.
We also had to sleep with the window open all night (in late January) because the room was so hot. Kindly added to by building work in the next door room from 9am onwards. Parts of the hotel have evidently been modernised but the remaining rabbits warren of connecting corridors and rooms are all a bit tired.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Cute and nicely decorated. Room was small, with no counter space, but clean. There was no elevator though and we had to carry large cases up three flights of narrow stairs. Great location and friendly staff though. We'd definitely stay again.
Proximity to the train and relative cost are great but it’s a rickety old rat trap with lights that shut off while you’re in the hall, plastic bathroom inserts, warped windows and doors, and dingy cramped rooms. Still, Paddington is right around the corner!
Great location! 2 min walk from Paddington. The staff are all super friendly. The property is a little dated, but had the best shower of anywhere I've ever stayed in England. Many local restaurants nearby.
Excellent hotel located in the best part of London, very clean, quiet, nice bathroom, cable and the best part was the workers were friendly. I liked the Paddington station near the hotel. Thank you very much
Excellent stay.
They happily stored my bags both before and after my stay.
No elevator, narrow stairways, and small rooms, so I would recommend this property mostly to those who travel very light.
I appreciated that there were USB ports installed in the room. As the only electronic I had was my phone it saved me having to buy a plug adaptor.
Location can't be beat. I'd additionally recommend Sheila's Cafe nearby if you would like a full English breakfast.
Note: the hotel has actual keys rather than keycards, and ask that you leave them at reception when you go out for the day.
-Convenient location ,only few minutes walk to the train station and is inside the CBD.
-Staff was friendly.
-A lot of restaurants options with walking distance.
I am so happy with my stay at St David's. it was perfect. My room was so spotless and organized. bed made daily. I was on the 3rd floor and heard the train a little - nothing to keep me awake or annoy me. No rodents! Very quiet. I did have a twin superior room, which I shared with my 22 year old son - worth the extra $ for the superior. There were just 3 other rooms on my landing. I loved the tea service on the landing below. Building was charming, nice view of the park out my window. So close to a major rail station (1.5 blocks). Excellent restaurants and pubs a few minutes walk away. Nice staff. I cannot say enough good things and would stay here again in a minute.
We absolutely adore this hotel. Its location is ideal for quick transportation. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and the staff is attentive to the needs of their guests. There’s even someone on duty 24 hours a day at the reception!
Thanks 🙃
The hotel is super close to a major train/underground/bus station, so convenience was a 10/10! Beds are crazy uncomfortable, though, to the point where I dreaded going to sleep at night.
