Great staff. Comfortable room with terrace and sea view. Characterful bar area.
The swimming pool wasn’t available.
The rear of the building facing the car park needs attention. This is particularly important as we had to walk pass the area to get to our room.
Our second visit…Will visit again.
Firstly, the staff are amazing here. The food was also very good with an excellent cooked breakfast along with a great selection of pastries etc. The bar area is very welcoming and the hotel in general is a big favourite of mine whenever I visit Lyme Regis. The view from my room was stunning with the sun rising over the Dorset coast in the morning.I highly recommend.
A great stay. The only downside was some maintenance work directly outside our room at 8am! We came away for a rest and a lazy morning so banging and drilling outside our door was a bit disappointing.
I would however go back and recommend the property. A great central location.
We stopped at this hotel just overnight on our way from Cornwall to Portsmouth, and I thought it was a good choice! I found it comfortable and clean, with a tasty breakfast and helpful staff. It's a short walk to the beach and the Cobb, so I was able to go out in the early morning to see it. I wish we could have stayed longer, and hope to come back and visit again!
We couldn’t believe it is 3 star. Absolutely superb. Food excellent breakfast beautiful, staff friendly.
Room was perfect.
Great pool , sauna and jacuzzi.
Would stay there again , dog friendly , free safe parking , town centre close to beach & museum & mill & brewery ! Pub food excellent , receptionist Carol so welcoming & kind , all the bar staff very good & attentive & seemed happy to be there ( Some places staff are miserable !)
Really lovely hotel. Very conveniently positioned. Had a lovely balcony room and the staff were so very friendly and professional. Only grievance was not being able to turn down, or off, the towel rail. Was too hot to the touch and also made the bathroom and bedroom way too hot.
10/10-highly recommend and would visit again again
Perfect accommodation for our family trip to Lyme Regis, our children and dog were welcomed and felt so comfortable, very rare for us to visit the same place twice but I’d make an exception for the Royal Lion, we had the best time
Very old historic building, bedroom was refurbished beautifully with good quality furnishings, bathroom and high brand toiletries. Perfect location with sea view in centre of Lyme Regis.
Really enjoyed my stay here, unfortunately only one night for us this time and sadly didn't get a chance to try the pool as very busy. I loved the historical aspect to the hotel being built a coaching house in 1601. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and there was a lot of choice.
Located in the main street only a short walk to the sea shore and with convenient parking which is a definite plus given the location. Staff were friendly and the historic building had bags of charm. The room was adequate for one person and well appointed.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The room was suppose to be deluxe, it was very small no dressing table, no room to sit and do my makeup, no room to dress. , no space to move around the toilet door scrapes the bathoom sink.
The food was greasy, undercooked and bland. It was not worth £192!! Staff were friendly.
Staff excellent, beds really comfortable, breakfast choice brilliant.
Location to beach and shopping is excellent
One thing that needs improving is deeper cleaning (sister has her own cleaning company), ledges around room, top of TV, mirror and inside wall lights were very very dusty
