Wonderful stay during our visit to attend the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival. Great food, great service, and very nice, clean accommodation. Highly recommend. Hope to visit again in future.
Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens stayed in the family room overlooking the street. The kids loved the 2 bunk beds in the smaller room and the main room was very comfortable. The hotel has a old- world feel that really made it feel unique (to us Americans at least) and seemed so perfectly appropriate in this classic costal town. The included breakfast was absolutely fantastic in terms of the service, variety, and quality. Proximity to the local sights was unbeatable and the parking lot in the rear was extremely welcome since we drove in. Cannot recommend this hotel enough!!!
Receptionist was very helpful and welcoming.Room was clean and well appointed. All the food provided in the hotel was excellent and staff were very polite and friendly.
Beautiful hotel with lots of history
Food was amazing we had an evening meal and breakfast
Room was beautifully decorated and clean
Staff very friendly
We had a fantastic stay the location is amazing and to have car parking was such a bonus. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. Room was spacious and lovely clean and fresh. Will definitely be back
Wonderful stay, room was really lovely esp the bathroom, great sea view.
Breakfast was delicious. All the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Definitely stay again.
What a wonderful stay at the Royal Lion. We only stayed for the one night but we made the most of it by booking a table in the restaurant for dinner which was lovely. Plenty of delicious options to chose from. The hotel has ple tu of parking and conveniently right in the centre of lyme regis so an easy stroll to the beach and around the shops. There is a pool but unfortunately you have to book a time slot and all they had available was during our dinner reservation. If we were able to book in we definitely would have used this. One note to make is that we had a room at the front of the hotel which i love (i love to people watch) but i think there was bin men or a delivery very early in the morning so was very noisy. The hotel 2as clean and the room beautiful. Also want to note how lovely the staff were. Very impressed and would love to stay again.
Lovely old-fashioned hotel with lots of charm. Many comfortable places to sit and enjoy the ambiance with a drink. This is not a noisy sports pub -- this is a pleasant community place to relax with friends for a quiet conversation.
The room we were in was spacious and comfortable, with high ceilings and a window that actually opened to allow fresh air in -- many modern hotels have sealed windows. There's also a fan provided which is a necessity on hot nights as there's no air conditioning. The bed was comfortable, but a bit short -- I'm over 6 feet tall and my feet hung off the end!
The shower was adequate with lots of hot water, but the pressure was a bit low.
Breakfast was comprehensive with freshly prepared hot food made to order -- none of those buffet trays of lukewarm, tasteless food that most hotels provide. The staff were friendly and helpful.
There's plenty of parking in the back for guests, although some spaces were tricky to maneuver into with my large van. The hotel is right in the heart of Lyme Regis so it's easy to walk anywhere.
Bottom line -- my wife and I will definitely stay here again if we return to Lyme Regis.

Liked: Cleanliness
A really lovely old hotel in an amazing location for Lyme Regis. We have stayed here three times now and really like it. However the room we were in this time was an upgrade, and whilst it was nice, for the price we paid, we felt the shower was very outdated with very low water pressure. Management told us that these rooms are due an upgrade which I think would be very worthwhile.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Communal areas in the hotel/pub were good & the pool was better than the photos looked but the rooms let it down. They’re tired, need a paint & new carpet. Shower needs a good clean as mouldy. Luckily we didn’t need to spend too much time in the room. Bed was small - barely a double & even my feet stuck out the end - I’m only 5ft 4!
