I stayed one night at this hotel.
Pros:
-The hotel is in a great location
-Everyone we interacted with on the hotel side was outstanding, from reception to housekeeping to maintenance to the bellhops.
-Hotel was noticeably clean, although I did find some hairs in the shower (it happens).
Cons:
-There were motion sensors in our room: if we didn’t move every 5-10 mins, the lights would turn off and we’d have to get up and flip the light switch.
-Shower drain didn’t work and flooded our entire bathroom, but they sent someone to correct the issue quickly.
-Shower didn’t have hot water at night (guessing it was peak time)
-We were given a welcome gift of a drink and tapas in the hotel bar. We sat down in the bar while the bartender actively ignored us and interacted with everyone else in the bar. (I have lived in Spain and my family is Spanish-this wasn’t your typical aloof Spanish service.) He wouldn’t come anywhere near our table, and there were only two other occupied tables at the time. After trying (and failing) to get his attention for over 20 minutes, we cut our losses and left. It was disappointing.
Overall, this hotel was ok, but it is definitely NOT five star quality as reported. After my experience, I’d say it’s closer to 3.5 or 4 stars.
Loved the area and the staff (minus the bartender), but I would probably explore a different property the next time I’m in Madrid.
