The room I was allocated was not a room in the main hotel complex. It was what appeared to be a unit building, where the hotel housed customers when the main hotel rooms had been over-booked. When it rained on the second day of my stay I had to wade through water in the hotel carpark, to get to the main hotel building for breakfast. The room I was in did not appear to be any of the rooms advertised on the website. During the four nights of my stay, I heard other customers given the same story I received, that they were in this area because the main hotel was full, but the hotel representative maintained that the rooms we were allocated were equal to a standard room at the hotel. I do not believe I received the level of accommodation I thought I was paying for when I paid for my reservation, back in February.

Worst hotel experienced I had in my life so far

We got to the hotel by midnight and we turned up there they said that they have no room for us due to overbooking, then they re-allocate us into a really old and dirty apartment next to a main road. I could not catch any sleep due to the noise. The guys in the hotels looked like the Greek mafia and they said that we could go somewhere else if we wanted, being this at midnight.On top of that, hotels.com did not offer me a refund even after calling them 2 times, they just offer a voucher instead even after explaining that I should not pay for a product I did not buy. This is the first time it happens to me and also first time I leave such a negative review to anyone.

I can’t actually review this hotel because I wasn’t able to stay here due to “plumbing problems”. They forced us to stay at a low budget apartment which was a 10 min walk away from Hotel Georgia called Lyktos apartments which was almost half the price (45 euro per night when we paid 83$ per night). They refused to even oblige me with a decent partial refund and said that we should have walked the 10 mins out of our way to get our free breakfast. They offered us $5 back per each night we were supposed to stay, like $90 per day is no sweat off my back. This place is run by scam artists who lied to Expedia about forcing us to stay elsewhere when I tried to file a complaint. We were laughed at when asking the manager for a refund for the price difference. Save your money, there’s a million other better hotels in the area.

When first arriving to Georgia hotel I admit we were concerned. The street was not very nice so it didn’t give us a nice impression of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the check in was easy. Our room (studio) was not what we expected. Extremely small, tiny bathroom, a balcony you could barely sit on and yes there was a little sea view but mostly the back and top of other old yucky buildings. The toilet seemed to be broken, there was exposed wiring on the balcony and then the air con started leaking. I’m not a person to complain but we weren’t happy. I went down to talk to them but they didn’t have any other rooms At the time (it was late at night) so the lady told me to speak to someone else in the morning. I spoke to the next lady and she was very helpful. Showed me a couple different rooms and we ended up waiting for other people to check out so we could have a suite. It was only $100 (AUD) for the whole 5 nights to upgrade and it was SUCH a better room. Much nicer looking, bigger balcony with an amazing view of the ocean, pool, and a soccer field. The room was much bigger and the bathroom was nicer. We were much happier when we switched rooms. The rest of the stay was nearly perfect. Amazing staff and even got to meet and drink with the owner. Pool was beautiful and mostly quiet. Beautiful food with reasonable prices, so close to the beach as well. Towards the end of the stay there were a few little hiccups (power outages etc) but overall very happy.

Early season visit

we visited hotel Georgia at the beginning of season (Easter) and found they were still busy preparing the hotel. We found building works going on and the staff on the back foot however they were helpful and kind. The breakfast was excellent and overall good value for money

Nice hotel wIth reasonable price

nice and friendly hotel to travellers. Welcomed my wife and me like a family! Staffs were very helpful and food, especially full-course dinner, only with 12 euros!, was wonderful! We enjoyed it. One of the beautiful beach is right back there. You can reach the beach in one minute by walk. five kilometers from the city heraklion by car. You better rent a car to enjoy in Crete. we will stay at hotel Georgia again. We miss Crete already.

good value hotel

Hotel Georgia is a good value hotel. It is located in a safe neighborhood, about 10 minutes from Heraklion and 15 minutes from Knossos Palace by car. The very reasonable rate included a simple but adequate breakfast. The hotel staff were very helpful.

Warmth, hospitality and delicious food await!

Dimitri, Georgia and Stella were all very welcoming and generous with their assistance - nothing was too much trouble. The location is close to the beach for swimming and really easy to catch the bus to and from Ieraklio's centre. Supermarket nearby, wifi excellent and the food, prepared by Georgia, was always very delicious. Stella and her lively enthusiasm for life enables everyone to feel both at home and very welcomed. Dimitri is a very friendly and charming host and we are grateful to have met them all. Thank you.

good location

the hotel is small but in a great location for the beach 50yds away. unfortunately we got off 2 a bad start. on arrival the hotel owner picked us up at the airport as promised but said there was a problem with other guests not leaving and took us 2 his brothers hotel in an entirely different location 4 the night. he picked us up in the morning but on arrival we were then told that our room would not be ready till the following day therefore we could not unpack for 2 days! the hotel is clean and the staff were very friendly. rooms are clean but very small with a tiny balcony. the hotel advertises it's rooms which includes breakfast and airport transfers. although we were picked up from the airport on arrival , the transfer to the airport on departure was not forthcoming and we had to get a taxi which cost 20 euros. the hotel owner was not the least bit concerned about it. i feel that is misrepresentation. we would definitely return to the resort but not to this hotel.

Near the beach and nothing else

The hotel was alright, but it seemed like I had an issue everyday. One morning the hot water was out, another the water was out altogether. The first day we arrived we were in one room, but the balcony door did not shut all the way (it was cold in February), and there were some unwelcome spiders, but when I asked to switch rooms, they were happy to make me more comfortable. Nice people, but the location is not ideal during the off-season. During the summer I am sure the place is amazing and much better kept up, but I would not recommend the spot for a winter trip. It was near the beach, which was nice and beautiful, but a 20 minute bus ride was required to get to the center of the city, and the bus to that area did not run very often, so you could be waiting for the bus for 20 minutes too. It was a mother/son run business, but the mother barely spoke english, and the son was often not around to answer questions, but they are both nice people and tried to help. Good breakfast.

manager screamed at me and threw me out

Not enough space here to state the entire sequence of events, but I've posted the entire experience on TripAdvisor. Summary: Room was not as described on Expedia. When I complained, they said they were full and would transfer me to a better room the next day. The next day discovered the 'better' room was still not as advertised. I complained again, and he manager tried to tell me my expectations were too high! I had paid more than twice what the similar hotels around were charging, so yeah, I had some expectations! Eventually manager's level of anger got out of control and he kicked me out of the hotel after giving me a partial refund for my second night (I only stayed one night). A middle aged man yelling and screaming at a young solo female foreigner. Very unprofessional! They have neither pillow top nor memory foam! AC was broken. Room was not quiet, very loud sounds coming in from kitchen in morning. Room had too much furniture, very cluttered. Not very clean. Very cramped. Pool small and cluttered.

Very friendly excellent value

We found the hosts at this family run hotel incredibly friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable with kitchen facilities. The breakfasts were excellent, and included home made cakes.The evening meals, notably the daily special menu, was really good value at 10 euros for a four course home cooked meal, and was very enjoyable. At the bar on an evening we felt like part of the family. The hotel is situated 100 yards from the beach, and is 50 yards from the bus stop, where you can catch a bus to Heraklion centre and the airport. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location, great host!

Loved the location of this hotel, a stones throw from the beach and away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre (however there is a bus stop nearby so you can get to town). The room was small but we had a sunny balcony with views of the sea. The nightly $12 meal was great value and delicious (better than some restaurant food we had), and Dimitri and the other hotel staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. They really made us feel at home.

Great value for money

Georgia hotel was everything we hoped for. It was well-equiped and close to the beach. On the top of that they served great Greek breakfast and dinner in the evening. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice beach area

Family run hotel. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Very close to the beach. One room we stayed in was quite small but the other one was spacious. I was able to leave my bag at the hotel after checking out to go to the beach and enjoy the backyard of the hotel before heading to the airport.
