Railway Cottage - Home away from Home

This lovely cozy retreat is situated in the heart of Martinborough and its surrounding vineyards, cafes, and shops. It's just two minutes walk to the village and an easy walk to some of the best vineyards in the district.

The cottage offers all the charm of yesteryear mixed with modern features and appliances. Railway Cottage's open plan living flows out to a covered deck. The perfect outdoor setting for dining, enjoying the country air or just soaking up the sun with a good book. A lovely heater on the deck for curling up with a blanket on the evenings or cold days.

If you experience one of those rainy days you can relax in front of the gas fire, entertaining yourself with the selection of DVD's, books and board games available.

There are two mountain bikes available onsite if you are looking for some exercise.

Perfect for a girls weekend

Sheryl is a fantastic host and very accommodating. The Cottage is very comfortable and in a fantastic location - very close to the square. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Sheryl.

A lovely Martinborough retreat

We had a lovely stay at the Railway Cottage! The cottage was very sweet, clean and well equipped. The location is excellent, a few minutes walk away from the center of Martinborough and the host, Cheryl was lovely and very accommodating. Would highly recommend staying here!

Perfect Stay

Was beyond impressed with our stay at Railway Cottage. Home was charming and very well maintained and clean. The beds were comfy and exactly what we needed after a long drive. Wish we had been able to stay longer, next time!

Girls get away

The property was in the best location for us , in the same street as our bike rental, 3 minutes to centre of town so we could just park our car up till it was time to go home. The deck area is where we spent our time at the house and with it having shelter by the trees and a roof on we could stay there in all weathers. We had the best time, our only problem was sandflys we did get bitten a bit.

Perfect, charming cottage

We loved our night at the railway cottage. Unbeatable location about 3 minute walk to the square, lovely house with three bedrooms and cozy lounge, nice deck looking out onto a big backyard with fruit trees. No complaints, everything was great :)

Perfect weekend getaway

Could not rate this stay any more highly. Cheryl was extremely accomodating in some requests we had leading up to our stay, and the house itself is a gorgeous and spacious property. Super close proximity to the Square as well. Stayed in Martinborough a few times, and this by far was the best experience.

Exceptional Property

This was our first rental outside the US. We went to NZ for the Women's FIFA cup and didnt want to stay in Wellington and deal with the masses. This place delivered. The ability to heat the bed before you got in was amazing! The property is well maintained and spacious. Unfortunately, we tripped the breaker shortly after arriving but the owner responded right away to text. Railway cottage is the perfect little get away! Centralized to the downtown square, very easily walkable or a short drive to nearby quaint cities. The mountain pass is a cliff hanger but gives you access to areas that provide rail access.

Truly great house

You can’t alway say a holiday home is comfortable but this place is fantastic- warm, clean, amazing location, and comfy beds and living space. After a long day experiencing good food, wine and shopping it was just like coming home. We stayed in winter, and would love to come back in summer to utilise the great outdoor space in the sun. Fantastic little cottage.

Beautiful cottage. Very clean and tidy, walking distance to Martinbourgh main shops and cafes. Grounds are beautiful and would be a great place to stay in the summer months as well. Great communication with the host, Highly recommend.

Lovely place

Lovely place to stay with everything you need, lots of DVDs to chose from in the evenings for your personal wine tastings session purchased during the day. Right around the corner is the bike hire place (1min walk) so we used the 2 x bikes in the shed and hired 1 additional for our group - the hosts let us pick the bikes up early which was very nice. Plenty of parking, great communication.

Railway Cottage was clean, comfortable, full of charm and in a perfect location. Easy walk in to the town centre, shops and restaurants. The bikes were a great bonus for getting to the wineries. Checkin was seamless and communication with Cheryl was easy and Cheryl responded quickly.

Delightful Railway Cottage
