We noticed visible mold in the closet on our second day of the stay, after experiencing headaches and nausea while in the room. Once we realized the likely cause, it made us very uncomfortable continuing to stay there. We immediately went to the front desk after noticing the mold but were informed that room issues cannot be handled there and that all concerns must go through the host.
The host did respond and sent maintenance midday the following day, who stated the issue was fixed. However, despite our ongoing health concerns, we requested a room change multiple times and were not offered an alternative room or a refund. We also contacted Expedia, who reached out to the host on our behalf, but the refund request was denied.
The kitchen area was very outdated. The mini fridge was not working and was turned sideways, appearing broken. We also attempted to use the TV, but the remote only worked for power and input, and the TV was left set to Spanish with no way to properly adjust it.
This isn’t something guests should have to discover on their own, especially since mold can impact health. While the room appeared mostly clean at first glance, the mold issue, outdated amenities, and limited resolution options ultimately overshadowed most of the experience. That said, the valet parking, pool, and beach access were convenient and did help make the stay more manageable. I hope this is taken seriously and addressed more proactively for future guests.
