I was trying to save money. It was rated as a 7/10, so I thought it would be sufficient.
It was a grungy place. The breakfast didn't offer things like eggs or bacon. They didn't have any conditioner available. The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned.
My partner used a facecloth that made her face tingly. She felt sick afterwards.
I will never go back, and I'm not being dramatic. Spend a little more for a hotel chain where you won't be UNpleasantly surprised.
The hotel is overpriced and shows clear signs of deterioration. Do not stay here. The property is outdated, poorly maintained, and neglected. Though the staff was friendly, there were several issues: black mold on shower grout, chipped tub, rusty fixtures, worn furniture, dull towels, outdated web pictures, no temperature control, noisy due to old windows, disjointed decor, and high cost at Can$266 per night with tax. Breakfast included baked goods that quickly became stale. My wife wanted to leave the first night, calling it a "dive." It desperately needs new ownership for major upgrades and better maintenance.
The place is nice as it’s a historical building. For those who drives, make sure to find a proper parking spot to park overnight as the hotel doesn’t provide a lot of space for parking. I received a parking fine in the morning for parking at a wrong spot.
A nice & comfortable place to stay in Montreal. I came in late (11:45pm) and found the process of entering the bldg & my room very smooth. I had spoken to the mgr ahead of time and all was safe & clean. Room was as advertised and I enjoyed my 1 day stay. My only suggestion was to fix the loose toilet seat in room 303 & replace the shower head. Breakfast was plentiful & relaxed, and I had no issues with the “free” parking. I will be back soon.
It was a decent place to stay for the money. The area is a little sketchy but you're only a 10 min drive from downtown except in rush hour. We actually walked to old downtown montreal in about an hour because we had time to spare. The breakfast leaves a little to be desired but again you get what you pay for. The room was roomy enough, bed was comfortable and the shower, water pressure, and hot water supply were all good. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
We had parked new car in the assigned parking area in front of the hotel. The receptionist had assured us that it was safe and considered hotel property. However, our car was stolen. There was no one at the front desk at the time. When we tried calling the manager, they ignored our calls. After waiting for a while with no response, we called 911. The police arrived and informed us that this area is not safe and that such incidents are common here.

Friendly staff, it's in a good location. I didn't like going downstairs to get breakfast. There were spiderwebs around and it was dirty. I love to give good reviews but this really change my morning when I went to have breakfast.
