Michelle and Gary were wonderful hosts. Our room was clean and comfortable. The extra fan that Michelle put in our room was helpful, as it was very hot and humid during our visit at Christmas. We had a spectacular view of the Sleeping Giant. There was a good variety of food for the provided breakfast, including fresh mango and avocado - yum!!! We had 2 dinners at Stoney Creek, both delicious, with a nice mix of local ingredients. The pool was a nice way to cool off after a hot day of tourist activities. The dogs and cats were an entertaining, well-behaved crew. It was fun to while away some time just watching them! Our last day at Stoney Creek was Christmas Day. As we had a late flight back to the States, Michelle invited us to share their Christmas meal. We felt so welcome. It was a wonderful way to end our Fiji holiday. (regarding the heat - Michelle mentioned adding air conditioning to the rooms. this will be a welcome addition.)

Pleasant Bush Retreat
I chose Stoney Creek as a budget option base for some research work in nearby Lautoka over a few days. I knew I would be arriving later than the advertised close of check-in so I called ahead to let them know. Gary was very easy going about it, and also gave very clear and helpful directions to get me there. On arrival I was greeted enthusiastically by the menagerie of rescue dogs Michelle has taken under her wing (perhaps a more challenging experience for some, but added to the homestay feel for me in a good way). A complimentary beverage and bottled water for my room on arrival as well. The room was clean, comfortable and met my needs perfectly. It wasn't serviced during my stay, which might bother some, but it's not a high priority for me, and based on my experience with the hosts, if I'd needed something, I'd only have had to mention it and it would have been taken care of. Meals are reasonably priced and tasty, and drinks well priced as well - especially compared to the tourist traps of Denarau. The main public area is very comfortable, with free wi-fi and nice views out to the Sleeping Giant mountain. Staff were unobtrusive and polite, and the hosts, Gary and Michelle, make you feel at home.
Pros: Clean, comfortable, relaxing, pleasant outlook, great hosts, good pricing.
Location: Sleeping Giant, hot springs & mud pools, waterfall & zipline are all close by, as well as Nadi & Denarau.
