Great stay for a shuttle to Tongariro Alpine Trail! Dutchy was a wonderful shuttle driver for an early morning excursion, and you’ll get a bonus mini-tour from him on the way. :) s welcoming as coming home, peaceful and quiet location, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Places close early so plan accordingly! To fellow hikers, you can do it if I could. Happy trails!

Great and close to amenities

Good and quiet surrounding, with a few cafes and bars around. There is a spa pool available to use, just book it at the reception. The check in and check out are easy. The location is good- easy access to Whakapapa Ski field and they also offer shuttle service to Tongariro with a fee. Overall, great stay.

Stayed during a weekend skiing at Whakapapa. Very convenient location. Lady at check in very friendly & helpful. Lots of DVDs available to watch for a quiet night in. Bed comfortable, walls thin so could hear next room but not an issue & slept very well. Would definitely stay again

Walking distance or little drive to a whole range of restaurants and bars which was really convenient. We had the family room which was just the right size to fit a family of 4. To our surprise there was a pull put sofa bed which was so handy for our little ones.

The hosts were absolutely lovely, and you can tell they care about the lodge and their guests comfort. Clean, well kept, lovely lounge and kitchen if you want to chat to other travellers, or lovely rooms if you just want somewhere to rest.

The best staff

We were in the motel side. Room was very clean and nice. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. We got information about area and they took us even back to the railway station after checking out. You hate to order breakfast here! It was so wonderful and tasty! National park is near, if you want explore there.

Very comfortable

I honestly really liked this place! It’s older, and you can tell it has a little wear and tear, but you can tell they do a good job keeping everything clean. There were plenty of blankets and pillows in the room if you wanted to add more to the bed, and the rooms were very spacious. I slept really well here and the water pressure was great in the shower. The staff was also super helpful when we brought up what hikes we had planned. They gave us lots of good tips!

We loved our stay in National park village. The owners were wonderful. Duchy gave us great advice about the Tongariro crossing (a fabulous walk) and Gill looked after us well and gave us a lift to the station. All facilities were good. Local eating options are limited but reasonable.

Nice place to stay

Nice, welcoming facility. Room was a bit cramped for three adults. Common kitchen area was well appointed for cooking. Beds were comfortable. There is no cooling/air conditioning. We asked for and received an extension cord to allow us to place a room fan in the doorway to allow the cooler outside air into the room. Friendly staff visited us at length in the afternoon after their work was complete.
