We checked in close to midnight after a long day of travel, just wanting a clean, comfortable place to rest, but it was the exact opposite. We found tiny bugs crawling out of the shower drain and up the walls, so we asked to switch rooms. The second room they gave us was already occupied, we accidentally walked in on a half-naked man. The third room was only available for one night, and we were later told we’d have to move back to the original room with the bugs. At that point, we asked to cancel the rest of our stay. The hotel said they issued a refund through Expedia, but nothing went through for nearly two weeks. Expedia tried reaching out to the hotel and couldn’t get a response and almost denied the refund until I followed up with the hotel again —only then was it processed. The rooms are small and overpriced, and while the aesthetic tries to be trendy, the space felt worn — the curtain shades were stained and not well maintained. Overall, a really poor experience.

Such a unique location in a graffiti filled alley! Excellent location with tons of shops, food and bars close by. Coffee and pastries, beautiful garden and eating/working area. Highly recommend!

Untitled @ 3 Freeman Alley

This is a hotel with small of efficient rooms and good staff who provide friendly service. Location near lots of restaurants and easy access to transit. Close to Lower East Side, Little Italy, and Chinatown. Hotel is on an alley and a little tricky to find at first. Alley is covered with beautiful graffiti and is popular spot for photo shoots.

A wonderfully unique and hidden gem located close the best shopping district, Nolita & SoHo. Smart, well-designed, compact rooms for travelers who want to spent most of their time in NYC wandering outside the hotel and return to a space that feels crisp, clean, very cool (!) and secure. Breakfast offers a freshly baked pastry and barista-made beverage. While the overall rate still is not cheap, it’s great value compared to old, uninspiring hotels in midtown. I would come back here again in a heartbeat.
