La Petite Foret | Boutique Boathouse on the Isle of Wight
Escape to the gentle rhythm of the sea aboard our floating boathouse nestled in a peaceful marina on the Isle of Wight. This dreamy waterside retreat offers the perfect balance of boutique comfort and coastal charm, with soft interiors, breathtaking views and the quiet sway of the tide beneath you.
Our romantic floating cottage is just moments from beaches, coastal walks, and quaint island villages, yet feels like a world of its own.
Although we won’t be there in person to welcome you, everything will be perfectly arranged for a smooth arrival. You’ll receive detailed check-in instructions via text, and the keys will be waiting for you in a secure lockbox.
We’ve also prepared a digital guest leaflet (currently being finalised), where you’ll find everything you need to know about the boathouse — plus our personal tips for the best local spots to eat, drink, and explore around the Isle of Wight.
Neighbourhood | Our floating cottage is tucked away in a peaceful marina, surrounded by gentle tides, sea breezes, and bobbing sailboats. It’s the perfect base to explore the natural beauty and coastal charm of the Isle of Wight. Walk or cycle along the nearby seaside paths, discover hidden coves, or hop in the car to visit postcard-worthy villages and dramatic coastal cliffs. No wellies needed here — but a good pair of windproof sunglasses wouldn’t hurt.
Shopping | While you’ll feel blissfully removed from the rush of daily life, all essentials are close by. You’ll find supermarkets, cafés, and local shops just a short drive or scenic walk away — including options in Ryde, Bembridge, Sandown and Newport. Fresh fish & chips and an island-roasted coffee are never far.
Private | The floating cottage is entirely yours during your stay. You’ll have full and private access to the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, indoor lounge, and your very own waterside terrace — perfect for lazy mornings or sunset drinks. As this is also a personal retreat from time to time, you might come across a few personal touches or items in a cupboard or the fridge.
Check-in | We won’t be on-site, but you’ll receive detailed instructions before arrival. Check-in is fully self-guided via a secure lockbox — smooth, simple, and at your own pace.
Floating House | Welcome aboard your romantic escape by the sea. Moored in a peaceful marina, this beautifully designed floating lodge offers the feeling of a boutique seaside cottage — just gently rocked by the tide. Large windows flood the space with natural light, and every room opens up to calming views over the water. Wake to the sound of seagulls and enjoy your morning coffee on the deck as sailboats and ducklings drift by.
This is a place to slow down, reconnect, and breathe in the salty island air — with all the comforts of home, and none of the noise.
Bedrooms | Cocooned in soft linens and coastal light, the romantic double bedroom open directly onto the private deck. Watch the sunrise ripple across the water from bed, or slide open the doors and welcome in the breeze. It’s peaceful, private, and perfect for two.
Bathroom | Compact but cleverly designed, the bathroom includes a walk-in shower, a stylish floating sink, and a modern toilet — all finished in a clean and minimal coastal style. Fresh towels are provided.
Living Area | The open-plan living space invites relaxation, with its cozy lounge area, indoor dining nook, and large sliding doors leading to the outside terrace. Whether you’re reading a book, playing a board game, or sipping a glass of wine at sunset, it’s a space that wraps you in quiet comfort.
Kitchen | Small but mighty — the kitchen is equipped with all the essentials: fridge, induction hob, kettle, toaster, and coffee press. Perfect for preparing a slow breakfast or a light dinner to enjoy out on the deck. There’s also a fold-out table for indoor dining on cooler evenings.
Terrace | The floating terrace is the crown jewel — a private space with a seating area and uninterrupted marina views. Enjoy long, lazy mornings or candlelit evenings with the gentle lapping of water beneath you. It’s also ideal for sunset yoga or a glass of something bubbly under the stars.
Please Note | This is a floating home — so while everything is stable and secure, you may feel a gentle movement from time to time, especially when boats pass. It’s all part of the charm and tranquility of this one-of-a-kind stay.
Bear in mind that 90% of the charged rent covers the holiday home whereas 10% covers the hire of movables. No additional services are provided.
Reaching our floating cottage is part of the charm. Located in a peaceful marina on the Isle of Wight (Island Harbour Marina), it’s easily accessible by ferry from Portsmouth, Southampton, or Lymington, followed by a short drive across the island.
While public transport is available on the island, we strongly recommend coming by car for maximum comfort and flexibility — especially if you’d like to explore the beaches, villages, and scenic viewpoints at your own pace.
Free parking is available right next to the marina.
It’s the perfect place to slow down, reconnect with a loved one, and watch the sun melt into the water from your private terrace.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking stillness, this is a stay designed for intimate moments, ocean air, and timeless memories.
🐾 Dogs – on request only
While we love animals, dogs are not allowed by default due to potential allergy concerns for future guests. However, we’re happy to look at this case by case — feel free to reach out to us before booking. If approved, a £50 flat cleaning fee will apply to ensure the space remains spotless for everyone.
Bear in mind that 90% of the charged rent covers the holiday home whereas 10% covers the hire of movables. No additional services are provided like daily cleaning or breakfast.
Time to sit back, relax, and find back your #inner peace.
