Relaxing vacation in Nice

We loved our stay in Nice and should haves stayed longer! Giles and his pup Maurice were great hosts and really made us feel welcomed. Small but complete breakfast matched the room but in the best part of the city so worth it! So close to tramways and train station, ((when not on strike) but we walked everywhere which was so easy! Hope to come back again!!!

A very small hôtel. This is not your typical hotel. the rooms were clean and comfortable and although the facility is small the rooms had a bedroom space and a kitchen dinning area. Gilles was very friendly and extremely helpful with any request and suggestions. For a budget friendly place in a very touristy town it’s difficult to find a better location, close to the English promenade, old Nice, train and tram station. I would return again

The location is not bad, but this is not a typical hotel. I would characterize it like renting a room in an apartment complex. The manager is hovering and checking on breakfast like if you eat more bananas

This hotel is in a beautiful neighbourhood within easy walking distance to the Promenade des Anglais. It is also right across the street from a convenient tram line that goes directly to the city centre. The owner Gilles is friendly and gives helpful advice. The hotel is very reasonably priced for the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely loved the location, literally a five minute walk to the most beautiful swimming beach! We deeply appreciated the warm welcome from the host and his friendly wee dog! We felt right at home and very comfortable for our entire stay! The host even marked out all the sights on a map for us to explore. Our breakfast was delicious and we had so much selection to choose from. We would definitely stay here again !

Staying at Hotel Victor Hugo was such a pleasure! Gilles and his doggy Marius were such amazing hosts, and were so much fun to interact with in the mornings. The location was perfectly close to many great attractions, and offered plenty of amenities. Our room was a great size, and even had it's own kitchenette which was very convenient. And the free breakfast is a huge bonus! Would definitely stay here again.

Loved our stay here in at Hotel Victor Hugo in Nice! The employees are beyond friendly and give tips on what to do/see in the area. It’s so close to the promenade (and the beaches) and even closer to a tram station (super easy if going/coming from airport). Rooms were clean and the area in general feels super safe. Totally recommend this hotel!

We had a great stay and appreciate the nice breakfast and helpful suggestions from Gilles. We booked the room with attached small extra sitting and kitchen space and that was perfect. The bathroom is small and shower a step up so not perfect if mobility issues. Location in the city is great with the tram to the airport right across the street. Appreciate the convenience of an ice maker. Located in a beautiful old building.

Staying at the Hotel Victor Hugo was an absolute pleasure. The building is lovely and quaint. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel owner, Gilles, is personable, friendly, fluent in English, and a great conversationalist. His little dog, Marius, is a joy and greeted my wife at our door every morning when we emerged for breakfast. In the breakfast room, there is a sign in French and English thanking you for feeding neither Marius, the dog, nor Gilles, the owner. Take note that the hotel is modest—if you are looking for opulence and all the amenities, this is not it. But if you want an authentic, human experience, good conversation over breakfast, and a taste of old-world Nice, you’ll love it. We did. We would absolutely stay there again.
