Everything was great!

Dated hotel with poor decor No gym or onsen Location not great although parking garage convenient

We stay here every few years and generally have good experiences. In the past it was packed with Chinese tourists but this time there were noticeably fewer. There was a junior high trip which made dinner/breakfast a little more chaotic but I’ve chaperoned that type of trip before and didn’t notice the kids were badly behaved or anything. The food was delicious and the room, while old, was clean. My biggest complaint is with the pools. One was closed and the other one limits the people that use almost all the slides and such to kids 120 cm and under. My 11 year old was pretty bored with nothing to do at the pool. They also used to have free rafts to float on, but no more. Some of the onsen were also under construction but there was still plenty of space. Could have dealt without the old Chinese ladies’s manners in the onsen but I don’t blame the hotel for that. Enjoyed checking out Shiroito waterfall (didn’t realize how close it was). Overall a good stay but not sure we will be back since next time my 7 year old will also be too big for all the pool activities. Price has also increased a lot in the past few years.

Our stay at this Hilton was very pleasant. All the hotel staffs that we had contacts with all speak English, until many hotels that we have stayed in Japan for the past two months. The hotel staffs were also very friendly and helpful. We were particularly impressed with one hotel staff name Winter, her name tag said she is the hotel’s Journey Ambassador. Winter’s service, attitude and the way she treated us was EXCEPTIONAL! We booked a very nice corner room with great views, only one room like ours per hotel floor. However, there was no internet signal in our room. Winter not only brought in a hotspot device, but she was very patient and courteous, and helped each of us connected with the hotel’s wifi. Then we met Winter again in the hotel restaurant, Winter was not only attentive, but she followed up with us, treated us like true VIPs. She was sincere and genuinely nice. She made sure that not only every need was provided but every unspoken desire was satisfied. Truly exceptional and extraordinary service. The encounter with this one hotel staff truly made us want to stay at this Hilton again should we come back to Hokkaido in the future. Thank you Winter, you made my wife and my 88 year old mother-in-law fekt so welcomed and that we are grateful for your service and your hospitality. Hilton should be proud to have an employee like Winter. I wish all my employees are like Winter!!!

Great amenities (public bath, laundry, gym) and terrific location -- this place is a game-winner on your next trip to Otaru!
