PUNTA RUCIA LODGE: ★★★★★ Acabamos de pasar cuatro días maravillosos en Punta Rucia Lodge, en Puerto Plata, celebrando nuestro aniversario, y las palabras no alcanzan para expresar lo felices que quedamos con nuestra experiencia. El lugar es absolutamente hermoso: romántico, tranquilo y muy privado. Fue el escenario perfecto para celebrar una ocasión tan especial. Pero lo que realmente hizo nuestra estadía inolvidable fue el excelente servicio. Todo el personal nos hizo sentir verdaderamente especiales durante toda nuestra visita. Quiero agradecer especialmente a cuatro personas maravillosas de su equipo: Cecilia, capitana del restaurante; Ruth, nuestra mesera; y sus dos asistentes, Esmerlin y Danger. Todos fueron excepcionales. Nuestra mesera Ruth fue más allá de sus responsabilidades para asegurarse de que estuviéramos felices. Teníamos una solicitud especial durante nuestra estadía y ella se encargó de que todo saliera perfecto. Una vez más, el lugar es hermoso, romántico, aislado y simplemente espectacular. I booked a stay at Casa Marina Sosua expecting a relaxing vacation, but it turned out to be a very disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, there were serious issues. When we entered the room, there were what appeared to be blood stains in the bathroom and near the hallway entrance. On top of that, the shower was in poor condition—the shower head was loose and fell while I was using it. The food situation was equally bad. We tried both the reservation-based restaurants and the buffet, and the quality was extremely poor. The meat, in particular, tasted heavily processed—similar to canned hot dogs—and overall, the food felt unappetizing and poorly prepared. Even the drinks were disappointing—they tasted like watered-down concentrated juice, with excessive dilution that made them flavorless. Customer service was also lacking. Most staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful, which made the experience even more frustrating. The only positive interactions we had were with the receptionist and a supervisor who genuinely tried to assist us. The one highlight of the property is the view—it’s absolutely beautiful, and we truly wanted to enjoy our stay. However, the overall conditions and service made that impossible. Fortunately, we contacted Expedia, and they were able to relocate us to another resort. Overall, I would not recommend staying here based on our experience.

Resort needs some repairs to be 4*+ Good reception especially with Juan. Also toilets need to be more functional allowing use of toilet paper to be flushed putting it in waste basket isn’t sanitary. Mattress on pull out couch needs to be changed, also linen for the couch should be available in room. Shower isn’t functional to high and therefor sprays out of shower area. Chairs on balcony could be more comfortable.

Pool is a great visual when you walk out. I didn’t use it but would be great for kids as alternative to beach if you where hanging out at the hotel. Was clean every day
