Good property, bad communication
The house is a good size for two adults and small children and has a very homely feel. The property is on a quiet road, a short walk from the local beach which was unfortunately full of seaweed and rocky - a longer walk can take you to the beautiful San Lorenzo's sandy beach (beware lidos do not accept dogs in San Lorenzo- other beaches outside of Marzamemi area do).
The condition of the house was fairly good, relatively modern and in good working conditions (great aircon!). Kitchen and utility room were well equipped and functional.
On a more sombre note, the communication with the property manager was below expectation. On the day of arrival, we communicated a 1.5h delay due to bad traffic and roadworks - our new time of arrival was 6.30pm (no antisocial hours). The property manager required a cash payment for the inconvenience, which is obviously not part of the Ts&Cs of Vrbo and even though the ad specified check in anytime after 4pm.
Also, during the check in, we agreed to meet at the property at 11am on check out date to give the keys back. At 11.15am, I messaged the property manager to remind him of our scheduled departure and only then I was asked to lock up the house and leave the keys in a safe place. At least, they replied in a timely manner to my messages.
