This property is in a great location. Unfortunately, it's pretty tired and the owners haven't put any money into the property. It could be great but I don't think they care. Except for the great bartender, the staff wasn't too helpful when I mentioned the marijuana smell in the hallway and barking lapdog in the morning. I felt bad for any guest with mobility issues since the elevator didn't work during out stay.
Pros: - Location and views
- Parking
- Staff working with the little they have
Cons: - Everything else
This property could be something special but sadly its owner/manager has no pride in his/her/their country and it's reputation with travellers choosing to visit this beautiful area of Scotland. He/She/They also have no shame charging for rooms that barely meet standards, if indeed they do.
Without spending a cent, things could be improved. For example; hang the curtains properly. The hooks have come off the rail meaning that closing the curtains for privacy or against light is futile. I would have done it myself if I had access to a ladder. The one hook behind the bathroom door (which doesn't close by the way) is laughably pointless as nothing placed on it actually stays there. I'm sure there is black mould that is covered over with paint and there are areas everywhere that paint is peeling. I think the person cleaning does the best possible job he/she/they can do under the circumstances.
Breakfast is fine and the staff there are friendly and helpful.
This hotel is part of the Bespoke group of hotels which doesn't speak well for that brand and we'll be avoiding it in future.
Smelly hotel, dirty, problems with plumbing, elevator is out of order, no parking.

Great location but mixed staffing experience
Nice hotel although needs a bit of upgrading. Lovely location and worth paying for a sea view.
Car park is a challenge. The hotel works a system where you have to book through reception. But many people don’t comply which meant we did not get our allocated space. I felt hotel could have dealt with this better.
Worth noting that there are nearby public car parks that are free from 6pm to 9am. So a good alternative option.
We had dinner, bed and breakfast. Food was good and a variety of choice. Dining room has lovely views across the bay.
I felt reception staff could have been better. It doesn’t take much to welcome you properly, and also say hello when you pass. Slightly redeemed with check out.
Waiter on Saturday morning kept telling everyone how management had left him on his own. Not a good image to have staff openly criticising management.

Big Grand Hotel. On the Harbour.
Great Stay. We have been before to this Hotel so we new what to expect. Staff Great and Polite. Breakfast very good,
Its an old Victorian Type Hotel but you get what you pay for,Yes there could be a few improvements here and there with the Structure but what suits some dosen't suit others. The price was right so there you go. Would we go again yes.

Great western hotel in Oban
Only 1 side of the window opens but not very far curtains were torn on the inside and can be seen from the road .
Staff is very pleasant and helpful.
Cooked Breakfast could be a bit better
Absolutely disgusting hotel, that im surprised it can use the word Hotel. Avoid at all costs. 3* are all very questionable.

The hotel is clean but a little tired. The lift had broken down on the day I arrived which meant climbing about 70 stairs up to my room on the 3rd floor. Bed very comfortable and en suite rather small but everything needed was there. Staff helpful and friendly. Very nice breakfast. Limited parking.

The hotel badly needs updated, I know I booked basis but I still would have expected the room to be decent, on the first night it was raining, just above the window I had a leak, the window did not open, no information about breakfast time or about the hotel, the staff who where on duty at breakfast where lovely,

Tired old hotel needing renovations. Bad smell in the hallway. Windows not working, no air conditioning. Fantastic location and view.
I got a room in the basement carpet not clean bathroom same
View in same level the.car parking
I asked to change and said no more room
No friendly
I never go again in this hotel
Very expensif for what I hit
Foul smell when we opened room door table dirty underneath, radiator dirty inside and out, paintwork patchy noisy floorboards we told reception, but i wouldn't hold my breath
This property is old which is fine. However it needs a proper clean and scrubbing. Without the beautiful view I would not recommend this to friends and family or other airline employees.

Staff friendly and attentive. Room very clean.
Hotel has obviously been making improvements to carpets etc since my visit last year.
Gorgeous view of the water and less than 0.25 mi from Oban Distillary. Hotel is old and has many, many stairs (there is an elevator but it's creaky and fits only 1 person + 1 bag). Downstairs room reeked of cigarette smoke - property was full so no opportunity to move rooms. Upstairs room was better. Parking was NOT free and spaces are quite small. There is a restaurant onsite. Dinner was good but breakfast was excellent.
The corridors carpets and decor ready for a face lift but realise what a cost that would be. Glad we upgraded to a sea view, watching the world go by was entertaining. We ate one evening in the restaurant, no problems.

Have stayed a few times before and it’s ok, staff friendly but this time was told breakfast would be £10 each but on checking out tried to charge us £15 each !! Was resolved by the manager then in the car park I found out my credit card kept being charged to the tune of £12,000!!!! Which again involved the manager who said it was a computer mistake and said he cancelled the payments, So not sure what to believe
Will probably stay again as great location.
