Lovely staff, very friendly in all departments. Beautiful dinner and lovely buffet breakfast. This property is recently undergoing some renovations and even though we loved it as it is it’s going to be very special when finished. Right on the beach, spectacular sunsets.

We enjoyed our stay and the location is superb - we had a lovely outlook to the sea. However, I was cold when I went to bed even with the heat pump on, and there was no spare blanket to add to the bedding. Reception was closed so I had to layer up with day clothes over PJ's.

It's a great location and staff but the property is run down. The restaurant has prices that would be high in Auckland and the food is average.

Great stay at The Sands

Top choice for Omapere/Opononi stay. Large establishment with beachfront and courtyard units. We appreciated being upgraded to the Beachfront. Idyllic sitting in our patio area enjoying the seaview. Nice Bar and Restaurant with a deck to enjoy the good weather and sunsets. Plenty of free parking. Helpful staff

Location Location Location

Location its all about location. Superb views of the Hokianga harbour, the golden sands and the friendly atmosphere of the staff from the moment of arrival until departure. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Very satisfied with the whole experience which made the weekend very enjoyable.
