It’s not often you see a home this stunningly unique: its status as a four-storey house in the heart of the Le Marais district of the 3rd arrondissement is a wonder in itself. Combine that with the palpable ‘Old Paris’ feeling evoked by its exposed timber beams, wide wood flooring and cosy lived-in atmosphere, and it adds up to a truly special place.
KITCHEN & DINING AREA
As you enter on the ground floor, take in the cosy, homely vibe immediately. A small sitting area greets you, centred on a rich white rug; nearby, an ornate vintage mirror sits atop the mantelpiece, and an alcove houses a stacked bookshelf. A provincial-style timber dining table sits opposite in the light from the window, ready to accommodate a dinner for six. Behind, the kitchen is spacious, bright and rustic – raw timber cabinets evoke memories of an older time and mix flawlessly with the modern appliances, lighting and fixtures.
LIVING ROOM
Ascend the first flight of stairs and arrive in the living room, which takes up the entirety of the first floor. One wall is dedicated solely to shelves housing books, sculptures and photographs, while the opposite hosts two full-size windows that throw plentiful light around the space. Two large plush sofas are sure to inspire relaxation – especially with the large flatscreen TV opposite.
BEDROOMS
Up the next flight of stairs, you’ll find the second bedroom. Long, spacious and swimming in the natural light provided by its many large windows, this room boasts a queen-sized bed, an expansive wardrobe and shelves. Ascending the final flight of stairs brings you to the extraordinary principal bedroom, occupying the entire top floor. From the four big windows and the original timber beams crisscrossing the ceiling to the huge ornate rug and the gorgeous old fireplace with its art hanging above, this room is truly outstanding. The queen-sized bed sits in the centre, ready to welcome a weary visitor for a good night’s sleep.
BATHROOMS
The primary bathroom, located on the second floor, is an ode to traditional Parisian style, featuring beautiful floor tiling, a walk-in shower, toilet and a wash basin. The clawfoot bath, while stunning, is unfortunately not currently usable. The principal bedroom’s en-suite is just as grand as its attached bedroom: a timber beam rises above an exquisite copper bath, and the walk-in shower is resplendent in blue tiles. There is also a toilet and vintage wash basin in here. You'll also find a separate WC on the first floor.
WE LOVE
The jaw-dropping principal bedroom. Awash in sunlight, giant in size, sophisticated in its décor, it’s a true delight to be here, let alone sleep here.
