Nice hotel, noisy location

We stayed at University Inn Tempe for one night. The service and cleanliness of the room were good - what we'd expect from a hotel of this size. The two concerns that we had were safety and noise. The room to our door had a standard lock, but no deadbolt or other second lock. The door itself had a slight gap (could feel a small draft from the outside) so it felt a bit insecure. For a hotel with high visibility to some major streets and lots of car and foot traffic in the area, this made me feel a little uneasy when going to sleep. Our second issue was the high level of noise from the street traffic. Cars revving down the street, two fire trucks in the middle of the night and the street trolly stop that including a dinging sound - maybe normal if you are used to sleeping in an urban location, but we are not. We didn't sleep well. A heads-up from the front-office when we checked in (and maybe an offer of ear plugs) would have been nice.

Great!

For the price and location you can’t beat it. If you’re looking for a decent priced room right in the downtown area this is it. Rooms are updated and very clean. Mini fridge and coffee maker but no microwave. It is loud with street traffic noise. You can hear everything so bring some ear plugs. Staff was super nice.

If you want to remind yourself of the motel experience, this is a good one.Carry your bags up the stairs to second level. Looks like rooms newly renovated. Nice shower, comfortable king bed.It’s your basic motel! Front desk very pleasant. ASU area. Very noisy from vehicles and trams, but part of the experience!
