Very good

Friendly staff, historic building near the Hoe and walking distance to everything. I like the hotel and often choose to stay there when I'm visiting Plymouth both when I'm on business and when socialising.
We chose the Duke of Cornwall because of its more apparent traditional style over many other places. We weren’t disappointed. We found the hotel as expected and it suited our needs. A couple of observations would be that some of the furnishings were a bit tired and the step up into the bath to use the shower would be too high if someone had mobility issues. We would definitely use the Duke. Of Cornwall again.
Really nice hotel, great staff and reasonable price

Liked: Cleanliness
Old hotel
Two rooms booked and were different ends of hotel - one had sea view- one poor disappointing view. Rooms were good size and clean but very cold as radiators hardly came on. We were on fifth floor and water took a while to come through warm.
Queue for reception as only one person on
Limited bar choice but a good breakfast and staff were pleasant in all areas
Property was nice getting a bit tatty in places probably due to the age of it everyone was welcoming breakfast was nice and freshly cooked to order carpark needs to be bigger as parking outside of hotel is expensive overal had a nice weekend would stay again
The bed and pillow were very uncomfortable. They were too hard. When my partner moved the whole bed would move. The floorboards are so squeaky when the people move about you can hear so loud below and I'm sure the people below us would hear the same. The car park is very limited and when you go to pay they suddenly had a price increase 2 days before but still note it on all literature as £7.50, not the £10 they charge at reception.
The radiator started knocking at 6am then again at 7 am I had to adjust and then turn off the radiator to get some rest.
They had tacky signs saying not to steal the shampoo bottles. Have dispensers in the shower/bath.
The shower was OK.
Didn't try the food or drink so can not comment.
The staff were friendly.
The hotel was probably amazing in 1863 with its lovely staircase but by today's standards it needs an upgrade

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Bit disappointing.
Front desk were helpful and friendly. We paid for a superior double. The room was really drab and had strange twin headboards mounted on the wall that didn’t sit over the bed. When we complained we were moved to a better room promptly.
The hotel is def outdated and a bit rundown but the staff were pleasant and the room was clean. The plug socket blew out and killed our phone charger.
We probably wouldn’t stay again.
The decor is sumptuous. I cannot fault the hotel. However, when I booked on line, the option of a single room was not available, so I booked a double room for1 person. So I was rather surprised to have a small single room on arrival.
I spent a night at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel, and i had a very comfortable stay. The room was clean, nice decor and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly.
