I not only loved the location of this hotel but its boutique style environment. We were there just before Christmas and the lounges were decorated with Christmas decorations the fireplace going all day and night. The room was beautifully designed and quaint. Everything was extremely clean and well kept. I would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommended.

Hotel Portsmouth is an awesome place to stay. It is very quaint with wonderful service. Not only was our room accommodation for the four of us very comfortable but the hotel also has many areas available to use, including a mini bar and pool table.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay here! The only thing I would say needs improvement was the sectional couch in the main fireplace room: it was VERY used, shall we say? While I appreciate the vibes it was giving, it simply was not comfortable because it is far too used and it was incredibly uncomfortable. While the staff were very friendly, it seemed under staffed: each evening the same person who was trying to run the main floor was also trying to man the downstairs parlor. Extra staff and someone constantly in the parlor was needed.

For the price, poor value. Impressive old interior woodwork but otherwise a bit tired. “Deluxe King” room hardly deluxe, massive (comfortable) bed alone could not make it anything special. Decor unbelievably dissonant! Breakfast lame for what is a decent food town. The could at least have fresh baked goods! Great location though, left car there and walked to restaurant, jazz club and in town.

Great place. The staff was nice too. The aesthetics and atmosphere are cool, but the breakfast could have been much better. The property was sorta unkempt and dusty. Our room was cold and was told due to the age of the property, the heating was not great, so they gave us an electric heater. Our bed was very uncomfortable too... they need to replace the mattress.
