About this property
Little Yellow Cottage Queenstown
Listing Description:
A cosy, thoughtfully finished cottage in the heart of Queenstown, perfectly placed for exploring Tasmania’s rugged west coast. Settle in after days spent wandering historic streets, tackling wild trails, or venturing out to Strahan and the surrounding wilderness. Little Yellow Cottage is comfortable, warm, and easy to settle into — an ideal base for experiencing the raw beauty of the region.
The Space:
Little Yellow Cottage sits in the heart of Queenstown, Tasmania, right across from the historic railway tracks of the West Coast Wilderness Railway. From this quiet and character-filled corner of town, you’re perfectly placed to explore the rugged and dramatic landscapes of Tasmania’s west coast — a world defined by moody mountains, mining history, rainforest, and wilderness.
Inside, the cottage sleeps up to four guests across two cosy bedrooms — one with a queen bed, and a second with two singles. The space is warm and inviting, with a comfortable living area, a well-equipped kitchen, books for lazy afternoons, and heating to keep things cosy through cooler seasons.
Queenstown itself is rich with character and history. From the heritage steam-train journeys on the West Coast Wilderness Railway which passes directly in front of the property — through rainforest, gorges, and old mining terrain — to the atmospheric streets lined with old pubs, historic buildings, and unique local stories, there’s always something to uncover. The town also has a thriving arts scene, hosting the annual Unconformity Festival and welcoming frequent artist residencies, which bring a creative energy to its historic streets.
For those who crave outdoor adventure, the surrounding terrain offers mountain biking trails around Mount Owen, scenic hikes to lookouts like Iron Blow, and beautiful drives to waterfalls or rainforest areas nearby.
Whether you’re drawn by history, wilderness, or the creative pulse of this remote town, Little Yellow Cottage offers a dependable and peaceful base. It’s a place to rest after a day exploring, and the perfect launchpad for discovering the raw beauty and unique spirit of Tasmania’s west coast.
