Private pool, near beach, lovely area!
I can’t fault the accommodation! It was spotlessly clean, well maintained and offered everything we needed for a self-catering holiday. The patio and pool area were particularly nice and we spent most of our time outdoors. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool (although I hadn’t realised from the description that it was all one depth) and the table football in the games room.
The house’s location is also great! It is situated on a quiet, residential street with a high hedge and gate offering privacy from the road. Both the beach and town centre (really just a street!) is an easy, few minutes, walk away. The beach is stunning, very long and wide (but disappears completely at high tide) and, we felt, very empty for August. We really enjoyed the town, the locals were friendly, the few shops offered all the essentials, the markets were good and we enjoyed local seafood in the restaurants. We enjoyed exploring locally (Pirou castle, the town of Coutances) and further afield (the waterfalls of Mortain, Bayeaux, D-Day Beaches).
The only negative comment I have is, at the time of our visit, new houses were being built directly behind and to one side of the property. Luckily for us the builders seemed to be on a summer break so there was no disruption, but it was a bit of an eyesore and it looks like the neighbouring new-build might overlook the pool when finished. This would not necessarily put us off returning as private pools near a beach are hard to find and we loved the town/area.
