Despite the large number of visitors it receives each year, this paradise still offers places to discover, surprises and lonely places. Only here you can bathe in two seas and only here you will be able to see the sun rise and set over the waters.
Under the description of La Manga there is a curious orographic caprice that has been one of the symbols that best identify the Murcian coastline as a tourist enclave: a cord extended along approximately 24 km between Cabo de Palos and Punta del Mojón, which puts natural limits to the saltwater lagoon known as Mar Menor. In its origin, what is now known as La Manga del Mar Menor was a bay open to the Mediterranean; at its extremes, volcanic rocks were gradually acting as brakes of sand and sediment carried by marine currents, to form a sandy column of dunes and rugged vegetation and extensive beaches bathed by two seas, the Mediterranean and the Menor. La Manga is a narrow strip of land whose width varies between 200 m and 1 km and a half. It is cut by natural channels that maintain contact between the two seas; the so-called goles allow entry into the Mediterranean water in the lagoon. As such space, it remained virgin until the decade of the sixties, when the "discovery" of La Manga occurred as a tourist enclave, undergoing a transformation with the urbanization of the area and the construction of tourist infrastructures.
Today everything that houses La Manga is designed to make the stay more pleasant for visitors.
