We had a wonderful stay at Barceló San José overall, with a few small hiccups. At check-in, our room had multiple entrances but we only got one key per door, two keys each would have been more convenient. Also, though our booking included premium lounge access, we weren’t given the key until the last day after asking, so we missed out on most of that benefit. The shower design could also be improved since water easily spills outside.
That said, everything else was excellent. The hotel is spotless, far cleaner than many luxury hotels I’ve stayed in across Los Angeles or Las Vegas. The décor is tasteful, the grounds are beautifully maintained, and even small details are cared for. The air conditioning wasn’t restricted like in many hotels, which made our room very comfortable. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful from the lobby to restaurants to security.
Once we did access it, the premium lounge was a great perk with snacks and drinks. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, delicious gallo pinto, eggs, and many other options, making mornings a treat. Pricing was transparent with no hidden fees; even transportation was included free, unlike other hotels in San José ( Balmoral ). Our balcony view was also beautiful, adding to the experience.
Despite the check-in issues, this hotel exceeded our expectations in cleanliness, service, and value. I’ll definitely be back and will recommend it to friends.
