Overall, the location and the hotel itself are beautiful. The main reason for the average rating is due to a few factors. First, the road leading to the property is in very poor condition—having a 4x4 vehicle is essentially required, as there is a real risk of getting stuck or damaging a standard vehicle. Additionally, it was disappointing that despite paying $240 per night, breakfast was not included. To make matters worse, when we attempted to order breakfast, we were informed that the kitchen was temporarily closed, which required us to go elsewhere. This made the stay feel somewhat overpriced for what was offered. There were also a few bugs in the room and bed, which wasn’t a major concern given the property’s proximity to the ocean and is understandable in that setting. That said, the location is absolutely stunning—the beach is beautiful, and the view from the room was incredible. Overall, however, the experience felt more like staying in an Airbnb-style room, with minimal amenities or services included.

The drive in is pretty scary (especially in the dark) however the stay is absolutely worth it! Not too many other places around. Ocean is rocky right out front. Pool and amenities are amazing. All the excursions are so worth it. The detail to this place is impeccable. The best thing about my stay was the staff. They remember you and are as personable as one can be. LOVED our stay and will be back.

99 is a favourite of mine. I love the vibe, the staff are incredible and the fact that it's right on the ocean makes it a no brainer. We had an issue with our room and the staff were quick to help make it right and we had an amazing stay as a result

Location is pretty good if you're surfing. Between Popoyo main break and Santanas. The food is top notch, probably the best in the area, and the staff are all friendly. The rooms are decent but definitely leave something to be desired for the price. In general, I think the price is a little high for the area and level of accomodation but it's not a bad spot to spend a few days. The only other negative thing I would say is that we tried to book a surf trip via boat 2 days prior to arrival and nobody got back to us. Unfortunately the swell was really good the day of our arrival so we were left having to figure it out as soon as we woke up.

We had a great stay at this charming little beachfront hotel—it has a relaxed, surf-friendly vibe and a solid restaurant. If you're into surfing, it’s definitely a top spot in the Popoyo area. A couple of suggestions that could enhance the experience: the bedding could be a bit cozier—we had a thin sheet and didn’t think to ask for extra blankets, so it might be helpful to offer those upfront. Also, the background music didn’t quite match the otherwise zen, yoga-surf ambiance. Something a bit more aligned with the peaceful setting, especially during breakfast or after a yoga session, could elevate the atmosphere.

This was my second time staying at this property everything about 99 Surf is incredible. The staff go above beyond to help, are incredibly friendly and seem to genuinely love their work. The property is located in a great area that is easily walkable to other great spots a popular surf break. But the food at 99 is probably my favourite. It's reasonably priced the quality of is immaculate! Make sure to try the Rosti for breakfast or the short ribs for dinner.

The place is just amazing! We came for two nights and as soon as we walked in, we tried to book more nights, unfortunately only one extra night we were able to snap. About the property: the place is apiece of heaven in earth, the pictures in the website are great but seeing it in person looks even better. The staff are the best and food (omg) that’s the cherry on top of the cake, every plate is delicious…. While we stayed there we met several other customers and all of them had the same opinion, this place is just fantastic! Big shout out to the stall Kaylee, Henry, Sharon and many others than I can’t remember their names

Nicest place in the area. One of the best restaurant also and very well located for the surf (walking distance). Service (for the hotel and the restaurant) is very average (same staff). Not welcoming, not engaging with clients. Should they improve that and teach the staff about hospitality, this place would be great.

Got a hair on my plate when having breakfast I told them they took the plate told them I didn’t want it anymore and when the check comes they were charging for the plate had to tell them that I wasn’t going to pay for.
