We stayed for 4 days the property desperately needs upgrades the beds were comfortable. The staff that works there are all very pleasant the young man doing the maintenance asked us how everything was and I said I was disappointed there wasn’t a fridge he said I’ll see what I can do when we returned we had a fridge that really helped as we had brought some drinks for after the park the lady at the front desk was awesome she was very knowledgeable about cedar point and very helpful . For the rate we paid and the closeness to cedar point can’t complain I’ve stayed in much worse down the road .Hopefully our next visit the property will have some more upgrades as I understand there are new owners and they are starting to upgrade the property. The one thing I did not like was the locks on the door they seemed a bit unsafe and not very secure in my opinion .

The hotel was clean and comfortable. I'll stay again when I go back to visit cedar point. Its right down the street from the park. Everytime good the only thing was the wifi didnt work in my room, just only in the lobby when i went down. They said they was going to work on it so i'll see is it different when I go back. But in all everything was great.Their pool even was open verses to alot of hotel I been to in Sandusky when I go to cedar point.

We arrived yesterday to check in and the property is disheveled, but the staff was kind and seemed eager to please so we tried to let the small stuff slide. After working all day and having dinner we returned to find our room unbearably hot. It doesn't have true Air Conditioning in the unit, we had a portable unit attached to one of the windows with an exhaust hose. The room was dirty and nothing was plugged in or functional. Not the phone, not the tv, nothing. The couch was stained and the carpets were filthy. I told my employee that I was going to bring it their attention and see if we could find a different room. This time an older indian gentleman who we presume was the owner tells us he will put us in a different room. He walked us clear across the property to a dimly lit dingy room which also had no Air Conditioning. As we were walking back towards reception, the owner said theyhad just purchased the property 3 weeks ago and that they had many problems to tackle but they hoped to update the property sometime next year. Long story short, I was not and am not comfortable or satisfied with either room they attempted to put us in. Neither was up to a basic standard that I find acceptable and certainly not worthy of paying for a weekend at. We left and found a reasonably priced room at Best Western Plus. I called and politely asked him to cancel the stay and he said he would cancel Sat/Sun, but tried to protest when asked to cancel the first night. Do not book.
External AC which left 2nd floor window unsecure and wasnt strong enough to cool whole room - could only keep front room lukewarm and separate bedroom was boiling hot.
TV was unplugged and inoperable when we walked in the room.

Everything was fine. Sure, a tiny bit dated, but plenty clean and impossible to beat for the price. I accidentally booked for the wrong day and they fixed it. I would (and probably will) absolutely come back when visiting cedar point, as long as the secret doesn’t get out.

My boyfriend and I decided to go on an impromptu trip to Cedar Point, and wanted a cheap place to stay. Avalon Inn is really good for the price and was just what we needed. It's only a couple miles from the park, which is really nice as well. Highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a cheap place to stay while visiting Cedar Point.

Staff are fantastic

Fantastic staff, friendly and hard working. For $50 I cannot complain. The room was very clean and the beds were clean and comfortable. The room was in need of many repairs and sprucing up but at this price point it is not a deal buster. If you need a good place to sleep after Cedar Point and are on a budget this is an excellent choice. Just expect very basic accommodations. The staff are what puts this place above any other hotel. They are working their best with limited workers. You can tell they work hard and want to please. I was happy to support them and wish them the best as they fix up the property. Give them a chance just don’t expect a five star royal room.

Just your average hotel

Hotel was decent, they definitely had some things to work on but was bug free and clean enough for me. Bed was comfy. Perfect hotel for a couple night stay. They do not have a maid yet i dont think, so you do have to ask for more towels if need be. Lock situation was a little sketchy but they work non the less.

The deadbolt on the door did not work. One of the light switches/lights in the room did not work. There were people sitting in cars late at night. Because this hotel is so close to an amusement park people are checking in late, but these people in several cars were there for long periods of time. Safety is a serious issue at this hotel. If it wasn't so late at night, I would have left. The desk staff were very pleasant though.

Check in was quick and easy. The staff member who checked me in (I forget his name; he was young with brown hair, a beard and nice smile) was very friendly. The room was nice with a full size fridge/freezer combo, microwave and coffee maker. The beds were very comfortable with fluffy pillows (I always need fluffy pillows when I sleep). The pool was normal sized and my son and I had it all to ourselves when we went to it. It was a little dirty with leaves and other debris floating and at the bottom of the pool. Even though the page says no breakfast, there was coffee and mini muffins in the lobby. Check out process was quick and easy as well. I would definitely stay here again if I needed a place to stay in Sandusky close to Cedar Point.

This place was perfect for the price we paid. The staff was incredibly friendly. The place needs some upgrades as it is very dated, but it was clean enough and you can tell the staff try their best to keep it looking great. It has a beautiful courtyard and a decent looking pool. If this place gets some updates and renovations, it will easily be a top tier hotel.
