Lovely position, great view from our bedroom! The rooms desperately need an update! But still, you can't make the walls thicker! Could hear every word that was spoken in the next room, and above!! The staff were sooooo friendly and helpful. Don't think it was worth what we paid! No Guiness, only zero? Parking was rubbish too! Extra costs, just wrong when you're paying that amount of money, for a room for less than 24 hours!!!

Along with many other guests, the views if you choose a sea view room are quite stunning, but we don't go to stay in a hotel to stare out the window do we. I checked the reviews from all sites before providing my own and it is purely based on experience without being influenced by others. It is a shame that there is a theme running through the reviews, because the building is in dire need of investment and perhaps this is why there is a little A4 note on the wall in the reception area pertaining to this. Rather bland in it's explanation but I think it's fair to say, that it's not being run by hoteliers of the year. My room had the bathroom ceiling wallpaper hanging off and is heavily stained with black, mould patches above the window too and poorly sealed around the bath. It is unsightly, but you just see, layer upon layer of "making good" as this decor is a make do measure. I get it would cost a small fortune to gut it and the time it would take, but the owners clearly have their reasons. I would be too embarrassed to work on reception. Perhaps this is why there's a "disconnect". No one gave me the WiFi info and nothing in the room alluded to it so I had to go down and enquire. Other than what I've mentioned, the main issue that affected me was the doors and floors. The doors leading to the rooms need planing and rehanging. The door to my room had to be shoulder nudged to open, but at least my yale lock didn't have a screw wedged in it, because it was obselete.

Nice hotel

Enjoyed the stay at the hotel. Rooms were good although maybe a little tired, but comfortable. Good cooked breakfast to send us on our way. For the price, well worth the visit. I've stayed at much worse that cost a lot more!

All Staff were so welcoming and engaging with the guests. Lin on reception was particularly fabulous! Breakfast was a buffet style- cooked and continental- unlimited drinks- all freshly cooked and hot! Views from the dining room looked out over the bay! Nice and central to explore North Yorkshire! Comfortable room with good facilities, some areas are being redecorated which could be seen but didn’t affect our stay at all! Thank you

Below par hotel.

Very run down. Toilet not very nice with old and stained seat. Bay view but dirty windows. Staff ok but not overly friendly. Friday night but restaurant not open. Breakfast ok but overpriced for croissants that were undercooked and inedible. Wouldn’t stay again.

Room was disgusting. There was dirt everywhere... behind the side table, in the sink in the bathroom. There was public hairs on top of the bed. Get rid of the cleaning staff and get proper caring staff. For almost 100 pounds a night the room should have been better

Just had another good stay at the Norbreck. As with most chain hotels, it’s a bit tired in places but The staff were all excellent The bed was comfortable The sheets were clean It’s in a good place for the quieter North side and also for getting into town and the shops. Would definitely come again.

A budget friendly place to stay.

My Mum and I had a lovely weekend stay in Scarborough and really enjoyed the hotel. The staff are fantastic and couldn't help enough. They explained on check-in that they are in the process of upgrading and refurbishing the hotel so we knew to expect it to be dated in areas. Despite this it was clean, comfortable and cosy. The only negative we did have was the hotel reserved a disabled parking bay for us which was wonderful and worked great for the first 24 hours but then we went out and when we came back somebody else had parked in the space and the reserved sign with our name and reg on had miraculously disappeared! I was fuming as it meant my 80 year old Mom with limited mobility had further to walk and we couldn't guarantee getting a space at all as we had to squeeze in by the bins. I reported it to reception along with the reg of the car but felt nothing was done. Each car has to register so they could have easily located the person staying and go and tell them to move it. That was the only negative about the service. Our room was situated right next to a fire door and the corridor was quite tight so unfortunately we had everyone banging our door with their suitcases whilst trying to get through the door, and our neighbouring room did not control their kids letting them scream and run up and down the corridors banging the fire doors, luckily this was in the morning & not at night. But we would stay again so can't be too bad!

The Hotel is located in a stunning spot overlooking the north side of Scarborough, amazing views. The Hotel is a bit worn, with marks on walls, worn carpets, etc and in need of some TLC, however, for a night or two I wouldn't, staff were helpful, there's a bar and food seating area as well as benches outside overlooking the sea. There's not loads of parking for the hotel but they offer a parking disc to park on the main strip.
