When we checked in, there was random food in the fridge, a random used towel on the bed, and the toilet wasnt connected to the floor or something, it would tilt when you sit down.

The photos shown on the website, are not the same rooms. Our first room we were put in smelled strictly like cleaning supplies and the room appeared small and nothing like what we thought we were booking. We went to the front desk to get a new room due to the strong odor of cleaning supplies. We told the front desk worker about the cleaning supply smell, and that the room wasn’t what we thought. He said “yeah, the rooms get cleaned. And the rooms are exactly as advertised.” He did allow us to move to the room next door. The room was the exact same (but not as much of a cleaning supply smell which was nice). The room was filthy. The shower drain was clogged with old hair. There was a white stain on the bed (no idea what it was..) the night stands are little floating metal tables. The beds are on springs and were loud every time I moved. The head boards were pieces of wood nailed to the wall. The floor boards were FILTHY!!! When we walked bare footed we had dirty stains on our feet. We had 1 towel when we checked into the room. Well let's say the view is way better online, when you see the place upon arrival you're like hmm interesting.... The outside is full of junk not clean at all, the office is smelly not sure what the smell was. The stairs are dirty with the birds around they should be pressure was the areas for sanitary purposes. Then you enter the room, dirty as in chairs not wiped down sticky stuff Im not sure if boogers or what it was,t owel in the shower, Floors felt dirty. The bathroom door didn't lock, the sliding door and screen door did not lock at all so uneasy, yes it was upstairs but did not feel safe as they would not lock. Would not stay there again.

It was dusty, things not wiped down. It had a sink nozzle that was not installed properly. The drain in bathroom of the upstairs unit opened up to the outside, meaning someone could stand below and look up. The shower had no water pressure and the water barely came out. The person at the front office offered no apology or reimbursement, only saying I should have told them sooner, when I literally had just taken a shower that morning, I would not recommend this hotel.

We had a good stay at the Gateway Lodge but the property and room itself were below expectations. Room was clean but there were some small issues (broken blinds, broken toilet paper holder, rust stains in the tub) and the furnishings and bedding were very basic. From reading other reviews I feel I was unprepared and my family was definitely taken aback, so just wanted to let others know in case their usual standards were similar. Check in and communication was great, location was super convenient and parking was easy and plentiful. If you are not picky about a room being new/super nice and just need a place to sleep this could be a great option for you. There was also a fridge/freezer combo, a microwave and a K-cup coffee maker.

The picture on hotels.com of the hotel is very deceiving. The beds were the most uncomfortable things we have ever slept on They had the bathtub faucet caped off. However, the man at the front desk was very nice and brought us towels to our room. So A+ on customer service.

Customer service was great! We were there for 9 days for Monterey Car Week. Elevated room prices not great, but they all do it for Car Week. Our first room didn’t have a closet, so they were able to move us to room with actual closet (we were there for the week attending different events, we needed a closet, not 2 hangers on 2 hooks). Our TV was not working - they replaced TV the next day! Room smelled clean, floor not clean. Beds were comfy, pillows were puffy. Microwave worked, fridge worked but seemed to be leaking-water on bottom of fridge & some on floor
3 hooks & 2 hangers not sufficient for long stay- require closet. That cube on floor is only place to store clothes

It was just OK. Definitely dated. Meta springs bed frame below mattress was noisy, at least when there is lots of movement. I thought the people above me were rude and making banging noises but after I realized they were probably just having sex in the noisy bed. Main areas were clean but dust land lint around edges and under doors. Fridg but no microwave.
