In many respects, this was the best property we have rented. The house is spacious, clean and well-maintained, stands on a substamtial plot and is decorated and furnished in traditional style. The pool is large with an outdoor shower, sunloungers and parasol and a shady terrace with elegant rattan furniture, all complemented by an abundance of flowering shrubs and palms which are lovingly tended. The view from the house over the pool and orchard towards the Tramuntana mountains is outstanding. The setting is peaceful, private and secure with negligible traffic noise and we enjoyed picking and eating plums, pears and lemons from the huge orchard.
My husband, grandson (13) and I had great fun playing table tennis but we did not use the bikes as my husband deemed them unroadworthy.
We flinched at paying an additional 70 euros for airconditioning for our week's stay but, given the extreme temperatures, it was worth every cent.
The lovely owners met us on arrival and, after explaining what we needed to know, requested feedback, which I have given. We ate out twice but self-catered for the other meals and this is where my difficulties lay. There was insufficient usable crockery (e.g. 6 dinner plates but 1 chipped, 5 mugs but 3 chipped) and I had to be creative in the use of equipment to compensate for the lack of mixing bowls ( e.g. beating eggs in batches in cereal bowls), bread board, oven cloth, etc. These shortcomings were frustrating and the kitchen wasn't always a happy one! We were a group of 3 so a party of 6 guests would have struggled further. Supplementing the crockery stock and providing more non-electrical equipment would make catering less stressful and the whole holiday more enjoyable, This was the first property we have rented that did not have a basic kitchen store cupboard (just salt) or cleaning materials.
This property sits on the edge of Selva, a delightful old, hillside village, so the only way is up - but it is worth the climb for the superb views and to wander through the village's maze of streets and alleyways. The two little supermarkets (open 9.00-1.30 on Sundays) and bakery are a short walk from the property and provide most essentials, which enabled us to top up our main shop at Hipercentro in Inca.
As we did not want to travel far in the heat, we spent a lot of time at the property but can recommend a trip to the caves at Campanet and the little beach of Playa de San Joan. We loved this area of Majorca.
