The Novotel is splendid choice in the Dongdaemun area depending on what you are looking for and how much you are interested in spending. We booked a Premier Room in the Residence wing of the complex and were very pleased. There was a full kitchenette, a separate dining area, and a spacious seating area. The bedroom itself was enormous, as was the bath which featured an oversized shower stall and one of the largest bathtubs I have ever seen in all my years of travel. The room was fantastic. We also enjoyed swimming laps in the indoor pool on the 20th floor and soaking in the hot tub up there after swimming. The indoor pool complex is very nice. The only area for potential improvement I might identify is breakfast, which was somewhat above average but lacked any sort of flair. If they had some type of fresh fruit smoothie station, or a made to order breakfast wrap station or something like that, it might have given breakfast a "wow" factor. The most disappointing part about breakfast is that we were looking forward to trying some of the loose leaf local Korean hot tea, but there wasn't any to be had. All of the tea was in tea bags, which is absolutely no fun at all. The only other thing to be aware of is that the front of the hotel faces the emergency room entrance to a medical center, so if blaring ambulance sirens aren't your thing, you may want to think about something elsewhere. Otherwise, this is an excellent property and we would stay here again. Recommended.

Hotel and staff are first class. Location is convenient with subway station and restaurant within walking distance. There is also bus stop for airport shuttle in front of the hotel.

Ice is a menu item? Booked this hotel for my birthday and it was ruined. They “upgraded” me to the fourth floor… where my bedroom was easily seen from the ground. And there’s no view, the neighborhood is not exactly a great view. The overhead shower massively leaked which drowned my entire bathroom. I complained and got switched to a better room. Though the bathroom always smelled of pee. Other amenities were ok. Cannot complain about staff, they were accommodating in a situation that (seemed) wasn’t their fault. Can’t get over Ice being a menu item though… Would not recommend and would not stay here again.

Great location near train and walkable to DDP with easy pick up and drop off with uber. I would definitely stay here again. We got the delux suite with 560 sq ft space in the 1 bedroom and living area. The room had so many cabinets which are great for storage. It felt like a modern NYC apartment complete with a fridge, stove, microwave, filtered water machine and washing machine. Check in is on the 20th floor and I wish I visited the pool and gym, but there was so much to do each day that we rarely spent much time wandering the hotel.
