Pinetop Paradise | Cozy Cabin Near Woodland Lake

“Games for kids to play with, open floor plan living room/kitchen area. Nice gas fireplace. Glad there were space heaters in closets for additional comfort. (It got cold and snowed so these were nice to have!)” – Beth, Oct 2024

“The house was extremely clean and just what we were looking for for a quiet retreat.” – Melissa, Jan 2025

“…Saw a lot of wildlife. The fishing lake’s beautiful. Would rent again.” – Mary D., Sep 2023

“The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and stocked. Everything was there to cook in if you choose, and dishes, silverware, utensils, bowls and pots and pans were in great shape. Little details that make all the difference were there, such as fun candies, popcorn, hot chocolate with marshmallows, instant and regular coffee, as well as a new Keurig machine with many flavors of coffee. The tv was easy to use and had all the favorite programs and news. We loved sitting on the deck listening to the pines and relaxing. This place was very well done and we will be back many times!” – Anne, Aug 2023

The stay was OK. The cabin was in more of a neighborhood than the woods as the pictures indicated. The bedrooms are very hot so if you’re staying in the summer beware that there is only AC in the dining room…lots of bugs and spider webs. Home was overall clean and functional. Pots and pans could use some updating as everything we cooked stuck to them like crazy!! Good selection of board games and plenty of towels. Bring toilet paper as only one roll is on site when you arrive! Neighbors were lovely and very kind.

Something that they missed in the listing or pictures.

Steep stairs to get to front door. They also had a wobbly rail. Also they advertised a bbq for people to use. There is no bbq available.

Becky had the home very clean and ready for us! The kitchen was stocked nicely with all the cookware, spices, and utensils that you may need. There was complimentary snacks left for us upon check in. The linens were nice quality including the sheets and towels. It was great to have a full sized washer and dryer to do laundry. There were board games and darts available that we enjoyed. Wifi was excellent and allowed me to work from the cabin on Microsoft Teams. Instructions on how to light the gas fireplace would have been helpful as we were not able to enjoy that feature. We also had a large black bear get into the trash can at 3am but there was no way to secure the cans against bears and not a place to store full bags of trash inside. We were able to scare him off with the provided flashlight and had a small mess to clean up that morning. Overall not a big deal. Note to homeowner: Please check the underside of the deck as it appears to need repairs and safety could be an issue in the future. Would stay at Pinetop Paradise again! Thanks for the nice stay!

Not ready for premium price

Our stay was far from what we expected especially for the price we paid. There were many things that were not set up to make the stay enjoyable. The living area has no table lamps. You must use the ceiling lights which are very disturbing for anything. The property is NOT in a nice scenic area. The surroundings are terrible for a mountain 'paradise'. I had to sweep the porch and walkways for stability. The handrails were covered in spider webs. The outside overall was very dirty. No live TV. Roku hookup doesn't qualify. A note to the manager went unanswered on this. No KitchenToaster is simply not accepable. I put a battery in the bathroom clock - it had not worked in so long that the battery had leaked acid at the terminals. The main bathroom fixtures and mirror were not clean and loose. The kitchen table light and fan were so high that the chains can't be reached to try to enjoy the setting. The A/C (wall mount) is impossible to operate and the controls have no instructions and are not user friendly. No cushions for the outdoor furniture - but as stated who would want to sit and watch the next door property anyway. We are both late 60's and had no idea the entrance and driveway was such a disaster. All in all this was truly a sad stay for us and we paid (all costs) over $300 per night. Not OK in any way.

The accuracy of the listing is a little off. There is no barbeque grill on the property.

Very clean the shower in the master bedroom is not very spacious if you are over 6feet tall. Didn't care for the power lines right out side the bedroom window. The drive way is very steep. maybe could of been a little better with the details of the listing.

Great stay.

Loved our stay. House was very clean. Becky was very helpful helping us find the house. We got there at night and boy is it dark out there!! Unfortunately the GPS took us to a house on a corner of the street and we couldn’t find the actual house. Called Becky and she helped us find it! Other than the gps failure it was perfect. Went on some runs on the trails around the lake, ran right from the house to the trails. Took the boys to the park had a nice relaxing time. The house had everything we needed and more. If you want to see deer right out in the front yard this is the house for that. We couldn’t believe the deer it was amazing. We live in Gold Canyon AZ and just wanted to get away for the weekend and this house was a perfect retreat!!!! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Very clean comfortable home!

652 W Whispering Pines was super-clean and comfortable. My husband and I appreciated the 2 MBR set up with a private bath for each of us. The kitchen had everything we needed. Becky, the property manager, was prompt and helpful with questions about minor issues. She sent early check-in instructions and check-out instructions at then end of our stay. The very kind and thoughtful owner put in a new cooling unit just before we arrived (record-breaking warm temps while we were there), and it was very much appreciated. I would happily stay here again!

Several issues

We had several issues with this property that soured our stay. First, the terrain is not properly represented. My elderly parents could barely get in and out, plus the extremely steep driveway spooked them so they wouldn’t drive anywhere. Second there was a smoke detector with a dying battery that went off multiple times our first night. Apparently the owner knew of the issue and chose to ignore it. My boyfriend twisted his ankle trying to turn it off at 2 am by climbing on an unstable bar stool. When we finally reached someone regarding the issue (the property manager did respond around 3am) she told us where to get a key to the storage room to get a ladder so we could address the issue ourselves. This was an extremely difficult solution as my boyfriend was injured, I am a petite woman and my parents are elderly. They had hidden all the keys, including the one to the fireplace. We had planned to use the fireplace and were bummed we couldn’t. Eventually we found the key, but the fireplace was so filthy with residue it wouldn’t work. My mother was dead set on having a fore and insisted we clean it out which eventually worked. We were very excited about this cabin. It was cute and clean and in a great location. However the upkeep and support during our stay were disappointing.

Pinetop Paradise

We would like to give this property five stars, but due to a mistake by VRBO we can't. We were given the wrong access code to the house, and when we arrived at 4pm, the temperature was 95 degrees. After hauling all our luggage and the just purchased food up the stairs to the door, the code did not work. After some irate calls to the property manager who did not answer our calls until after 5pm we decided to spend the night in a hotel until we could get access to the house. Gay Messmer who has some medical conditions could not take the hot weather ( after driving 4 1/2 hours and detours due to the Telegraph/Mescal fire) sitting in the boiling heat. Also, we are a older couple that does not use the smart phone as a extension of our being, and when we finally were able to check our messages in the hotel, we saw that a new code had been sent at 3:31pm. By the time the property manager finally called us, we were checked in the hotel. However, had the property manager answered our first call, this whole mess could have been avoided. We actually feel that VRBO or someone responsible for the property should reimburse us for the incurred cost, since it all started with VRBO sending us the wrong code. Again, the property would have been perfect but all this miscommunication put a sour spin on the experience.

Nice place

Perfect home to get away from the heat for a long weekend. Location was great and it was a nice size cabin for the four of us, but with a third room another 2 adults would fit nicely. Cabin was clean and easily accessible, Becky did a great job prepping the place for us. It had everything we needed except for a BBQ. It is also within a mile of woodland lake area which has a nice walking path. Would highly recommend it to anyone and would hope to be able to stay there again.

Great place, roomy, and comfy

The home was fantastic. We had a lovely welcome goody bag waiting for us. Becky the care taker was available for whatever it was that we needed & super nice. We did run out of propane, called her and she took care of the problem immediately. The driveway is narrow and not the best when you have large vehicles, with trailers and quads. There was no grill, either outdoor or a Forman grill or smokeless grill inside, which was a bummer. Other than that and us being requested to do a bit more cleaning than other places that we've stayed at at check out, it was great. We do recommend others staying at this place.

Relaxing in the pines.

We had an extremely pleasant stay at this home in the pine trees of Pinetop. The caretaker, Becky, was helpful throughout the process and responded quickly when we had a question. The home was clean, comfortable and tucked away in the pine trees. We were able to ride our bicycles in the neighborhood both on pavement and on the Rim Road. We hope to return again and enjoy the community and the comfort of this home.

Great cabin

Kitchen faucet leaks, there’s a dining room rug that stays curled up on one end causing a trip hazard, a couple of loose stepping stone walking down to driveway, smoke alarms were sitting on top of refrigerator and mattresses in one guest room very uncomfortable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, the cabin was clean and had all the amenities required for a comfortable stay.
