Our room's mini fridge didn't work and toilet wouldn't flush. We were able to switch to a new room. But we didn't realize until after we were settled in to the room and unpacked. Inconvenient but it worked. The breakfast was pretty light and weak. At the very least I suggest fresh fruit.

The hotel was shabby but clean, with helpful staff at the front desk. The pool and hot tub were nice sized and good temperature. Location was convenient. Our room, however, was very lacking. When we arrived, there was a strong smell of chemical cleaning products with a hint of cigarettes (in our non-smoking room.) There was no ice bucket, the phone didn't work, no do not disturb sign. The TV wouldn't turn on; the front desk advised to "just play around with the cords." When we did that, it finally worked -- but then the remote didn't. Another trip to the front desk for batteries. The "continental breakfast" was one of the worst we've ever seen, with a few sad pastries, a few sad cereal selections, and some cold pancakes that apparently were meant to be heated up in the microwave. Perhaps our biggest issue, however, was that the side door to the stairwell did not have a card reader or lock on it. Anyone could walk right in at any time. The man at the front desk shrugged this off when we brought it up as a concern because "it's always been like that." Not good enough. I hope the new owners make some serious upgrades to this place because with some updates and more attention to the guest experience, it could be a good budget option in Summit County.

Hotel appears to be in transition after being purchased and while we didn't see any active renovations happening, its clear it is something they are working. This place is perfect if you just need a place to sleep and have food that's edible in the morning.

Our stay at Mountain Valley Inn and Suites was extremely disappointing. We stayed in two rooms because the first room (3rd floor) had an active ceiling leak (see photo) and was filthy and in terrible condition—it didn’t even have hand soap. The second room (6th floor) was cleaner and in better shape, but the overall experience was still very poor. In both rooms, the bedding was ripped and stained, and the blankets were very thin. We were told we received the last extra blanket, so if you choose to stay here (which I would not recommend), bring your own. The tub did not drain properly in either room. On the first day, there was a large wet spot in the carpet that never dried. We asked for help and a new room but were denied. We were told maintenance would come, but nothing was fixed. We were also told our dog could not be left alone in the room, even though this policy was not listed anywhere on the website prior to booking. This was not due to any complaint—just “policy.” We argued and did not follow it, but future pet owners should be aware. Customer service was generally good, except for one front desk worker who was very unhelpful and did not address concerns with the ceiling leak. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had, especially for the price. I wish we had stayed at a Hilton nearby for about $60 more per night. I would not stay here again.

The room was so gross! There were several toe nail clippings in the bathroom more than one persons worth and multiple fist sized stains of an unknown substance on the bed. We asked for the room to be cleaned and specified about the stains and toe nail clippings. We came later that day to the room being “tidy up”, The bed was made but the bed continued to have stains and looked unwashed, and the bathroom wasn’t cleaned at all the toe nail clippings were still scattered across the floor. We went downstairs where they gave us another room to accommodate us, But that rooms bed under the top blankets had a bunch of people hair in it. We decided to go to a different hotel hoping to find a clean place to sleep. We were denied a refund for the night that we didn’t even stay. The hotel being so expensive does not live up to the standards portrayed. I would strongly recommend choosing a different hotel. We went to The Block hotel which is less than a mile down the road and priced similarly but the rooms were greatly cleaner and staff was very pleasant, I would strongly recommend them over this hotel.
