Informed of pool closure after booking 😒

I have stayed at this hotel previously and rebooked as my children enjoy using the pool. After placing my booking I received a message from the hotel via hotels.com to state that the pool was closed for a maximum of two weeks from 18 August. I responded to state that it was unfair to inform a customer of this after booking and have not heard anything since. I raised it during check in and the receptionist said that hotels.com needed to resolve the issue as it was booked through them. The sign on reception and the information sheet handed to us on check in stated that the pool would reopen on Monday 1 September at the latest, however the receptionist said that it wasn’t opening until Tuesday 2 September. I would have booked alternative accommodation if this information has been provided prior to booking. Very disappointing end to the school holidays for my family. Other than the above, the room was ok and the breakfast good value. The parking was free.

We have stayed here a few times. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The hotel seems like it needs an update as it looks very tired on the inside. It’s clean but a lick of paint would freshen it up Also the water pressure in the shower was shockingly low. Quite terrible in fact. But overall a good hotel.

Booked for its convenient location. Spent 15 minutes by phone ensuring a cot instead of sofa bed was provided on arrival in the room, it wasn’t! Breakfast good but dinner was terrible. Worst omelette ever! Had to always get the highchair myself, ask for teaspoons, non slip cloth etc. Pool was closed during peak summer hot weather! Breakfast buffet cleared away at 9.30am, surely this is a bit early? Two families arrived past this time and staff put the hot dishes back down! Plus point? Staff very friendly.

Great value for money and dog friendly which was great for a stopover . Room comfortable and friendly staff. 12 o clock check out really helpful. Breakfast was superb and great value with kids eating free and reduced price for prior booking. We didn't use the pool but it looked fine. Lovely huge park over the road but not easy to get to on foot due to busy roads and no real footpaths First time using HI but will be stopping with them again

Rooms good, clean, enough space, nice basic pool, breakfast good, bar area nice, quiet when in rooms Sofa bed extremely uncomfortable (very thin mattress - could feel springs/bars) so sadly did not sleep well at all. Main bed not as comfortable as other hotels we’ve been too but ok.

Staffs are friendly. Swimming pool is definitely adding fun for the whole trip. Dinner and breakfast are excellent in terms of flavour and the portions. Room is newly renovated. It is clean and comfy. The only thing that concerned is the shower kind of weak in my room but it doesn’t matter a lot. Our family enjoy the trip in this hotel.

Nice, warm welcome

The room was nice. The linen was good crisp white linen which gave me a clean feeling. Enjoyed the shower which was hot and the fragrant toiletries, and also the slippers/dressing gown nice tough. But the coffee machine could’ve been easier to use.

Polite, friendly, helpful hotel staff.

The staff are amazing, it was our 2nd stay and we cannot thank you enough: polite and friendly but also hard working-you are appreciated. On arrival I said we’d stayed a couple of weeks previously and had a great stay & written a good review, we were immediately thanked and given a voucher for a couple of free drinks! We hadn’t expected that and certainly were not fishing to get anything, we’d genuinely had a fantastic stay. We were told that people don’t complain when there’s something wrong they just leave & write a bad review-that way no action to remedy the fault can be taken. We really did have a minor problem this time, we told the front desk and immediate action was taken so that within half an hour the fault was rectified: thank you again. ALL the staff are incredible, cleaners in the corridors, receptionists, bar & restaurant workers and the chef who visited everyone each morning to see that they have everything they need and that the standard is good. Hotel facilities are great, air con was welcomed after a hot day working, pool & gym, restaurant and bar & quiet areas to sit. We are impressed.
