Designer Retreat: A Creative, Family-Ready Getaway Minutes from Portland & Beaches
Welcome to our South Portland dream home — a stylish yet cozy retreat designed by a writer and designer couple who love this city. Whether you’re gathering as a family, exploring Portland’s food scene, or seeking a quiet, creative escape, this home is designed to inspire and relax.
Inside the home:
4 bedrooms with 1 king, 4 queen beds (comfortably sleeps up to 10).
A stocked kitchen with space to cook and gather.
Bright, open living areas curated with mid-century modern and personal touches
Book collections and cozy writing/working spaces to read, journal, or stay productive during your stay.
Two levels of covered decks and semi fenced outdoor space to enjoy the sea breezes.
150 ft to Greenbelt Walkway which has sunset views of the harbor.
Please note we do not have a pack n play or crib at the property (though you are welcome to bring one) and the third floor has very steep stairs (though you are rewarded with views of the harbor and beautiful sunsets). Also the property is not handicapped accessible. All bedrooms are located on upper floors.
Outdoors:
Mostly fenced yard / 1 block away is access to greenway. Great dog walking neighborhood.
2 level decks / upper deck area has Adirondack chairs and sunrise views.
An outdoor grill. Outdoor covered seating off dining area for 4.
Parking for 3 cars.
The location:
Five minutes over the bridge to downtown Portland’s restaurants, breweries, and shops.
Bike the Greenbelt Walkway to Bug Light Park (2 1/2 miles direct). 3 miles to Willard Beach. Please note Willard Beach is dog friendly prior to 9 am.
Walkable via the Greenbelt to Bayside Bowl (Bowling / Indoor Cornhole / excellent beer). Greenbelt has beautiful sunsets and some seated areas to enjoy. There are some restaurants nearby within a 10 min walk (a Mexican restaurant, a deli and Two Fat Cats Bakery (you must get a blueberry pie! They are famous for a reason!)
Close to the Old Port, Casco Bay ferries, and scenic Maine coastal spots, including beaches, Two Lights State Park and Fort Williams Park.
We do have some winter views of the bay and you definitely can feel the bay breezes from the upper deck. The neighborhood is very quiet but note there is some sporadic traffic due to a business being nearby.
Please note: Some of the current photos are staged. We’re furnishing the home with mid-century modern and locally sourced pieces—updated photos coming as we have them. Also, please note that we have a three-night minimum.
We created this as our dream property—a welcoming, design-forward retreat where families, friends, and your pup can feel at home.
Please note it is a 3 day minimum rental. We are dog friendly. Other pets must be approved by owners prior to booking. We are currently holding bookings for next summer because we have had an extraordinary amount of requests for summer rentals.
