It was a nice stay but not what I’d call a proper spa hotel. The pool was nice. Steam and sauna rooms were tiny and steam room was out of order the following morning. The jacuzzi had young kids in with no staff seen at all. The hotel is a bit dated in style. Ugly carpets, boring old fashioned paintings on the wall. The room was average but lacked in some facilities (no iron, bottled water, shower was hard to get good temp) but the bed was incredibly comfortable and it was spotless. The pillows was so good! It was clean and comfortable. The staff were really lovely. The bar was nice for a drink. Breakfast was good. Lots of options. Location is good. Parking on site for free. Good value for money.

Single guest impressed with value abd welcome.

A well equipped ground floor room which was spacious. Clean good stowage. Warm. Bathroom facillities very good bath and shower. Tea , coffee.

Lovely spa and amenities in general. Room was spacious and quiet with blackout curtains. I'd definitely recommend it. That said, there were some issues with cleanliness in the bathroom. I raised it with the staff on reception which was really positive and they helped. Key issue was a very dirty and old showerhead - a quick fix from maintenance.

Lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was larger than expected and the bed so very comfortable. There was a wide selection of foods available at Breakfast for even fussiest of eaters. Did not use Spa/pool etc but have decided will go back later in the year and enjoy it all !!

Has been refurbished to a great standard. Parts need finishing but the Spa , dining room , bar and bedrooms are impressive. More impressive however are the staff who were amazing for our entire stay , especially the lady in charge of breakfast who made my family feel valued and welcome. Thanks

Faded grandeur

I had booked one of the single rooms, which turned out to be so small that there wasn't room to accommodate a chair, so the only place to sit was on the bed. It was also very noisy, with the music from the foyer clearly audible. Thankfully, the extremely obliging staff were able to move me to a larger one. This was at the furthest end of the building, up two flights of stairs (lift out of order) but had plenty of space. Unfortunately, in this room there was a constant low level noise coming from the heating system, and despite double glazing, road noise too. Everything looked a little dilapidated, but overall it was a comfortable stay and convenient for where I needed to be. I didn't eat there.

The dining experience was an hours wait for dinner which we didn’t get told about until 10 mins before. Positives - beautiful room great sized bed Breakfast was nice although a little cold

Tired, like Fawlty Towers

As we drove into the property, it was immediately evident that this property is very tired and a shell of its former self. If you remember the Fawlty Towers hotel, then you are nearly there. Our disappointment continued when we were told that the spa was unexpectedly closed, as we had checked in early and had planned to leave late on departure in order to take advantage of the spa. Reception simply told us to contact the secretary, who after a couple of mail exchanges, offered us a bottle of wine as apologies - 5 days after we had left. We skipped breakfast as it looked overpriced and poor quality. The common areas were ok and clean, obviously some money has been invested, but the myriad of carpets and cold bar did make this feel very uncomfortable. One positive is that the bedroom and bed were decent sizes, although the shower looked like it had its best days in the 80s. One to miss next time we are in the area, I am afraid.
