The back deck provides serene views of the boats coming into the harbor and sometimes you can spot a bald eagle soar overhead.

The view is great, but there are 2 flights of stairs leading to the deck which was challenging for our elderly guests and my bad knee/ankle. There was no breeze and air circulation was challenging. Ceiling fans would alleviate this issue. I cook everyday for my family, and finding cookware that wasn’t damaged or old was difficult. The toaster is old and presents a burn hazard and should be replaced. The back bedroom full size bed is noisy and uncomfortable, and honestly could be replaced pretty easily. there is no privacy for that room either as the only way to the room with the twin beds is through that bedroom. The black vortex fan is broken and the gray fan in the living space needs to be replaced. The stand up black fans worked well. Bathrooms were GREAT, but I would consider raising the shower curtain bar so that the curtain isn’t a tripping hazard and add some Hooks on the walls for towels and clothes, etc. All in all, it was very convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP and we did okay for the 2 nights and 2 days we were there.

While we enjoyed our stay, this house is advertised as a “cottage” and that was not the case. It is an entire (albeit private) upper floor above a commercial business. There are also two other long term rentals on the same property that we were not expecting, thus it was not as private as we would have hoped for. With no A/C the windows were open most of the time and the other long term tenants were right outside of our windows/doors. All in all a great place, but I would have like to have had a more accurate description of the home.

Nice place in great location

The "cottage" is actually the top floor of a larger structure that had a lobster processing plant on the lower level at some point. (It's not operational now.) The interior space is quite nice, with a spacious kitchen and living room, along with modern bathrooms. Our one major complaint was that one bedroom can be accessed only by going through another bedroom. For a family, that might be fine, but when unrelated individuals are involved, it creates some awkwardness and inconvenience. A floor plan or at least mention of this idiosyncrasy should be on the listing. Also, while it wasn't a problem for our group, individuals with mobility issues should know that the place can be accessed only by walking up a flight of stairs. Altogether, though, this was a good place for our group to stay, and we appreciated the convenient, close access to many area attractions.

Smoke coming up from the lower level, people smoking in the shop below. Thought this was a non smoking unit. Grounds outside are nothing to look at. Not enough furniture for night lounging.

Great location

This property was conveniently close to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and other area attractions. It was perfect for the six of us with three bedrooms, six beds, two full bathrooms, and a nice kitchen and living area. There was also a deck with a grill. Really, the only downside was a lack of air conditioning, which we could have used during our August visit.

Great location but a little difficult to find

This is a nice and spacious house in a great location. There are a few restaurants nearby, including one that is two blocks away. It is about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor and some of the more popular Acadia attractions, like Cadillac Mountain. The views of the boats on the water from the wraparound deck were wonderful. It was a bit difficult to find though; Google Maps told us to turn into a driveway a couple houses before the actual location. Like other reviewers pointed out, there is no A/C. When we stayed the weather was not too hot and the sea breeze kept it comfortable. There are a few fans that also helped but one of the small fans did not work. Our biggest issue was regarding check-in and check-out. The check-in email from the host did not contain any instructions about how to access the key to the house. Fortunately, they were very quick to respond and very helpful when I texted asking for that information. Similarly, I had to text them to ask about what they wanted us to do for check-out (put bedding in the washer, etc.). It would have been nice to get this information in an email ahead of time especially since cell phone service is spotty around Acadia.

Too hot with no fix

As excited as we were to get there, we got into the house and it was 90 degrees inside, we immediately opened the window a bit one room didn’t have windows and one room the windows wouldn’t open. I messaged the company that rents it and asked for more fans because it was hard to breathe inside. They said they don’t have anyone local and can’t bring any more fans. The fans were extremely dirty and small, they barely worked. Traveling with my little sister who has special needs and my parents that are seniors made it challenging, we had to leave after one night. We won’t be going back, we found another house close by that wasn’t on top of a garage and 90 degrees inside.

Quite & Relaxing

Overall, it was a nice place to relax at, especially after being out all day. I enjoyed the views from the deck and also walking to the pier for a closer look of the boats and sunsets. Everyone was able to spread out and still have room. The table was large & great for gaming & eating. There are good places to eat nearby, especially the one about 2 houses down. Plenty of parking is provided. (Driveway is a little tricky to find at first) Photos accurately represent the listing. It is a good home base for driving to different attractions and I liked the quieter setting the place provided. Yes - I would stay here again. Pro: Very clean & mostly newly renovated Common area was very spacious & great for gathering Water & boat views from the deck (between some trees but clearly visible) Loved having coffee on the deck Large Table Quiet and semi-secluded The pier was walkable Kitchen was well stocked, as were the bathrooms Cons: Stairs - but the view/deck makes up for it Air flow was lacking down the hall & in the bedrooms Fans were provided, but were extremely dusty Some windows & blinds were hard to open & close, & need to be replaced Air-conditioning would greatly improve the comfort, especially in the bedrooms Note: The bedroom straight down the hallway leads to another bedroom. You have to go through that bedroom to access the last bedroom. Depending on your group could be good or bad. Was not an issue for us.

House itself inside was nice and clean, pictures matched reality, property is pretty centrally located if you’re doing Acadia and Bar Harbor isn’t too far away. Manset is a cute town and quiet. We would gladly stay again.

The front door was a little sticky, once inside we were very pleased with everything. The first bedroom lacked privacy (with a window into the living room) but this was not an issue for us.

Great location with some issues

Great view from the living room and the deck but multiple inconveniences. Expensive location. Need to keep this in mind when assessing the deficiencies we note. The house had a great view of the harbor from the deck and the living room but in our opinion it does not make up for the multiple inconveniences and poor maintenance. In addition to the unfriendly landlord, the house has many issues that made our stay inconvenient. In order to get to the small bedroom with two single beds, you have to walk through another bedroom and disturb its occupants. The squeaky bedroom door makes it even worse. Additionally the small bedroom did not have any blinds on one window so the light wakes up those of us who try to sleep a bit in the morning. When I called and asked for a blind, they promised to put it up the next day, but only did it two days later without even letting us know that they were coming. The other window in the same small bedroom is at an angle, like in an attic, so that the blind there was hanging vertically with the light shining directly into the face of the two people in two beds. All three single beds are too short for an adult or a teenager who is 5’9” or taller, unless one liked to sleep with his feet hanging off the bed. The “master” bedroom is inside the building and does not have any real windows other than an opening into the living room, making it dark, stuffy and loud in case somebody is watching TV at night. Minor point: the very old washer and drier are located in a bedroom, and the washer only has one warm/cold cycle, so if you, like myself, prefer to wash most of your clothes in a cold cycle, you are out of luck. Additionally, the house had almost no toilet paper left, including in all the closets, so we had to go look for it, and no laundry detergent at all.

Beautiful and Quiet

We absolutely loved our stay at this property! It was clean, modern, spacious and provided all the amenities we needed. The location was perfect in the quiet Southwest Harbor with a short drive to ANP and Bar Harbor. The view from the large deck, and inside the living room and dining room, was spectacular. I truly couldn’t recommend this more and hope to be able to return soon!

This property was perfect for us and quite a bit larger than we expected. It was very clean and you could tell recently remodeled. The setting is a little peculiar but don’t let that stop you. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
