My Story | Historic Creekside, Copper Tub, King

Summary:

Tucked away in Story, Wyoming—just 20 minutes from Sheridan—My Story is a one-of-a-kind, history-rich retreat where the creek is the soundtrack and the design is intentionally eclectic. This is an old, character-filled home—expect creaks, quirks, and a layout as unique as the setting.

Guests love the peaceful creekside deck, frequent wildlife, the comfort-forward king bedroom, and the show-stopping copper soaking tub (“10/10—don’t skip the bath”).

Please note: some art is adult-themed, the 4th bedroom is accessed from outside, and well water can be mineral-forward. This isn’t a cookie-cutter cabin—it’s a story you get to live in. Book now and write yours.

The Space:

Whether you’re traveling as a couple, family, or small group, this retreat is designed for comfort, connection, and a true Story, WY reset. The home unfolds across a quirky, historic layout, offering multiple sleeping areas and plenty of space to unwind together—or apart.

Sleeping Layout (please read carefully):

Stone-Walled King Bedroom (Guest Favorite): Dramatic stone walls, fireplace, and a true “wow” factor guests rave about.

Main-Level Queen Bedroom: Conveniently located near the kitchen and living areas.

Additional Bedroom: Cozy, private, and ideal for restful nights.

Tower Room (4th Bedroom): Accessed via an exterior staircase—unique, private, and memorable, but not for everyone.

The heart of the home is the open living and dining space—perfect for meals, games, and movie nights. The kitchen is fully stocked for real cooking (a consistent 5-star highlight). Outside, the deck and creekside setting are why so many guests return: morning coffee by the water, wildlife wandering through, and a level of quiet you can truly feel.

Guest Access:

You’ll have full access to the entire home and spacious backyard, giving you room to relax and explore. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck, let kids discover hidden corners, or gather under the stars by the fire pit.

Self check-in makes arrival easy, and once you’re here, the space is entirely yours to enjoy.

The Neighborhood:

When we say “local,” we mean it. Nestled in the heart of Story, Wyoming, this retreat is surrounded by mountain scenery, wildlife, and a pace that invites you to slow down.

Wake to birdsong, spot deer and wild turkeys, and occasionally glimpse moose or elk. Wildlife is part of the magic here—please admire from a distance and secure food properly.

Just minutes away you’ll find hiking trails, Story’s local charm, and the Wagon Box restaurant. In warmer months, drive Red Grade Road for breathtaking Bighorn Mountain views; in winter, it becomes a favorite for snowshoeing and backcountry exploration.

Downtown Sheridan is about 20 minutes away, offering boutiques, dining, museums, and culture—close enough for convenience, far enough to return to true quiet.

Getting Around:

Story is peaceful and rural—a car is recommended for exploring the area. Many attractions are within 10 minutes, while scenic routes and historic sites are 30–60 minutes away and well worth the drive.

Rental Car Option: A Tesla Model 3 may be available upon request (subject to availability).

Bike & E-Bike Rentals: Great for quiet roads and nearby trails.

Transportation: Story does not have rideshare services; Sheridan does.

Every drive here is part of the experience—slow down and enjoy the scenery.

Other Things to Note:

Historic Home: This is an old home with real character—creaks, quirks, and natural imperfections are part of the charm.

Water: Well water is safe but mineral-forward; sensitive guests often bring bottled water.

Layout & Mobility: Bedrooms are spread out with stairs, including narrow/steeper areas. Not ideal for guests with mobility challenges—message us before booking if this applies.

Adult-Themed Art: Some art is mature. Please reach out before booking if this is a concern.

Finding the Driveway: The home is tucked back and can be tricky in the dark. Please review arrival instructions carefully.

Supplies: Essentials are provided to start your stay; longer visits may require replenishing.

Quiet Hours: No loud music; quiet hours begin at 10 PM.

Parking: Driveway parking available; trailers/RVs by request.

Heating: Propane heat and fireplaces keep the home cozy—please don’t adjust thermostats.

Well & Septic: Flush toilet paper only.

Nature: Peaceful, wooded setting with wildlife—secure food and admire from afar.

This home is thoroughly cleaned and prepared before every stay. If you have questions before booking, we’re always happy to help.

Peaceful property

My Story is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful, quiet location. The home is nicely furnished, we spent a lot of time on the deck listening to the creek around the fireplace. It’s perfect for furry family members too- lots of grassy area! We look forward to staying at My Story again.

The bathrooms were listed incorrectly the master bath is bath only not shower only.Would have liked to have better communication on the heating instructions had to figure it out in our own.Pretty property had everything you could think of except toilet paper both bathrooms had only a small amount of tissue left. Contacted “owner” ( do not think this was the owner believe it was a property manager) only response was should be some well wasn’t any so had to drive back into Sheridan to get some. The art work I main bathroom really not suitable for young children Nice place just a few things that really could be improved on

Lovely home in the woods

We all were very pleased with the Story house. A magical place inside and out. The only thing missing was a hair dryer which, for us, was no big deal. The home is beautifully furnished and everything worked great. A great place for anyone looking to escape suburbia in the Bighorns.

Story stay

After a good travel day, we arrived early evening to our vacation destiny only to find it not cleaned, beds dirty, garbage in the house. We were lucky that my wife found a neighbor who knew a contact that we could communicate our dilemma, it wasn’t Dalton Goodyear, have never spoken to him. We ended up getting put in a double wide trailer, with one bathroom and a creaky door about a mile away. It got us out of a bind, but nowhere near the quality of home we had originally paid for, plus the extra hassle of unpacking and repacking once the property was cleaned. We got a small compensation, less than value of one nights stay.

So peaceful!

We celebrated our 30th anniversary and this cabin in Story was the perfect mix of peaceful and relaxing while still close to all the things we wanted to do in the mountains. I was pleasantly surprised by how private the cabin was. We crossed a creek to get into the property (driveway is quite hidden) and there’s another tiny creek on the backside of the cabin. It was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine out by the fire. One morning a beautiful doe came walking up just 15 feet from the deck. 😊 The cabin itself was clean and had all the amenities we wanted. We had a coffee pot, espresso machine, French press, and a tea pot. Loved the options! There are books everywhere. And the large copper tub was divine!! It is managed by Wyo Stays but they were very responsive and helpful. We also loved the quaint restaurants in Story with their outdoor seating so we could bring our dog. We were up in the mountains for day hikes and came down each evening to a warm bed, cozy fire, and sounds of nature. Exactly what we wanted. Will stay again!

Great yard

This is an amazing property. A stream runs a few feet behind the deck and you cross a larger creek to enter the property. Huge beautiful trees, park like yard, and rabbits, squirrels, birds and deer chasing each other around. Very quiet and private.

Great Bighorn Mountain Stay in Story

My brothers and our spouses enjoyed a great 4 days at this very cool mountain home. The description of sleeping arrangements was a bit confusing as we never did find the full/double bed that was listed. There were also a few essentials missing (dish washing and dw detergent most notably) but all were available at the local store in Story.

Charming cabin by a babbling brook

Beautiful find nestled by a running stream and lovely town. Close to Buffalo, WY but secluded enough for a getaway. Quirky and charming cottage with interesting decor and art. Amazing massive brass bathtub and so many unique things to see in the space. Very pretty property, and we had deer come right up to the house! Great experience for our family and kid friendly.
