Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
When we walked into our room, our futons were all laid out and looked so cheerful! The room had a small sitting area that opened onto a koi pond with trickling water. The owners served us a nice Japanese style dinner for only 1200 yen each. We called ahead to arrange this. Nonetheless, this hotel is in serious need of updating. There seems to be water damage and mold in quite a few places. Be aware that we had to take a taxi from the NEW shinkansen train station in Takaoka and had a very professional, female driver, the only one I saw while on our trip. The good news is that the shinkansen stops there. The bad news is that it is a long taxi ride to the hotel.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
welcoming traditional Japanese style ryokan.
Comfortable traditional family run ryokan within walking distance of station, useful for overnight break if unable to find hotel in Kanazawa. Facilities were shared but spotless. Women's bathroom could be used privately. The owner was very welcoming. A real taste of Japan. Good value at for tatami mat room for 3 adults.
We where welcomed by the owner and shown to our room which is very spacious and clean. It is a privately run Ryokan and the owner is friendly and helpful. The building is general is kept clean and in good condition and it has a nice onsen.
We enjoyed our stay very much, family of 4, it is 5 minutes from the train station which enables you to get to all the surrounding areas easily. Locally you are 1 minute from the local centre which has everything you might need.
We enjoyed our stay and found it great value for money.
Our stay at the Daibutsu Ryokan was fantastic. The ryokan is family-run and you immediately feel welcome. The rooms are beautiful and covered in tatami, you sleep comfortably on futons and the family provides you with welcome biscuits and green tea.
You can also take advantage of the onsen (separate for men and women) for which you are provided towels, yukata and obi. Breakfast is also excellent both in terms of quality and quantity, especially given the very reasonable price.
Overall, the ryokan has an almost magical quality and amongst the places we stayed at in Japan, certainly one of the most memorable.
