The cottage is embedded in a huge nature park. Its location is a good starting point for interesting tours, and the Gougane Barra National Park is nearby. The port town of Bantry, the flower island 'Garinish Island' and Glengariff are also worth a visit. This village is the starting point for a tour of the Beara Peninsula over the Healy Pass. You should also take your time for the most famous route, the Ring of Kerry.

Very nice

We had a very good time here. The building is over 200 years old so don’t expect a jacuzzi or something but you get a lot of character in return. Greg and his wife are very kind and we were very well looked after. Food was very good as well and the place was very quiet.

Cramped conditions

Poorly designed. Tight accommodation. Shabby furnishings. Lack of basic facilities ie toilet paper , towels etc. overpriced for accommodation and not suitable for four people. Even with the two of us it was difficult to watch the tv as one of the two seater settees faced away from the set. The bathroom was difficult to use as the door opened on to the toilet pan so have to squeeze by and shut before use. The stairs were steep and not convenient if you are not sure footed.

Mini break in Inchegeela

We had a lovely mini break here. Owners couldn’t be helpful enough. Supper and breakfast very good & far better value for money than eating out. We had a lovely trek round on the ponies & had a go at fishing. Very peaceful & quiet.

Fantastic 4 days in beautiful secluded place

We stayed 4 nights in the cottage with our dog. Amazing location and views - photos don’t do it justice. We didn’t plan to have meals there but after the first night when we tasted the hostess’ 3 course dinner we decided we’d have that every night - delicious food and very reasonably priced, served to us by Greg with candlelight in the conservatory. Even views of deer during dinner one night. Amazing sky views at night and a brilliant morning kayaking on the local river and lake arranged by Greg. A lovely place to tour Bantry bay and the surrounding area. The accommodation has been restored to a very high standard and is clearly a “labour of love” for Greg and Ziggy over the years. Too short a stay and would love to go back.

Small cottage but surprisingly plenty of space for two teenagers and two adults, good facilities including kitchen, dining table, lounge and barbecue. Just wish we’d stayed longer and had time for a spot of fishing!

Way out in the country and more rough/ cabin than we expected

I have no regrets as I wanted to experience different aspects of Ireland. This definitely checked the “far out in the country” box. I knew these were very old thatched roof cottages, which I thought would be a neat experience. There weren’t many pictures of the inside though, so I was surprised at how rough, cold, and cabin-like it was inside. We stayed 3 nights and we were really cold the first night, moderately cold the second night and by the third night we were finally warm enough, but still not warm enough to shower. The website listing said linens and towels would be provided, but the sign in the bathroom said “self appointed cottage” and noted that towels and toilet paper were our responsibility. If you are looking for a cabin-like experience in the country, it’s the perfect place to hike, fish, boat, or bike. The bikes, boats, etc are listed as Amenities online, but they are not included in the overnight accommodation rate. Greg has all the equipment available for rent. The listing does note utilities are not included in the rental fee. Make sure your bring cash to pay for utilities, and meals, and any rentals as they don’t take credit cards. The only other option to pay is PayPal and PayPal charged me an extra fee of about $10 euros. Greg and his wife were very kind, available on the premises, and more than willing to do whatever is needed to to make your stay enjoyable. His wife is a fabulous cook and they provided more than enough food to fill our bellies way too full (because it was so good!).

Great quiet spot for a quick getaway

Lovely tranquil area with quaint traditional stone cottage. My partner and our dog were made to feel welcome. Greg and his wife are good hosts, helpful and friendly without being intrusive. We took Greg's recommendation for eating out and loved it. Would stay again for longer and recommend. Mark, Marcelo and Barrow the dog.

Great stay

We've stayed 6 nights with Greg and Sigi and we can say it was amazing! The cottage we had was with a bedroom downstairs and one upstairs, not very ideal with a little one, but Sigi arranged for us that we could stay in another cottage. The property was beautiful and the view was just breath taken. We didn't stayed much around the place because we have visited a lot of familie but the times we were there we always had a good chat with Greg and Sigi! We definitely will visit again!

Misleading in every way

The listing mentions amenities such as towels and microwave are available. We can do without the microwave, but were not expecting to have to pay for towels. We were more surprised when we saw the sign in the bathroom that said we were expected to provide our own toilet paper too. All of this would be fine had we known to expect it. But it just kept getting worse….we were told we would have to pay extra multiple times for multiple things…..put trash in the trash can? Extra charge, turn in the heat? Extra charge, want towels? Extra charge so what does your rate provide? A musty, horrible smelling cabin that smells like a dank, moldy cellar, dusty blankets and the sound of the owner banging away on a construction project right outside your window. It was the worst experience I’ve ever had in VRBO. So bad that We left early. Ok if you’re looking for the bare minimum and don’t mind paying for dirty blankets, crusty towels and rude owners.
