It has a central location and a lovely room. The traffic and layout of nearby city streets are awful and hectic. Access to onsite parking is cluttered, difficult and expensive. Close proximity to public transport makes this the way to go.

A beautiful well appointed room served by top tier service providers. We had a minor issue getting stuck in an elevator for 15 minutes and they camped us an entire night. This place knows how to treat customers with decency and respect. 10/10 will go again.

Nice hotel but the visit immediately got off to a poor start at check in when the agent informed us we had our room upgraded to a newer room, but with two double beds instead of the king I had booked. When I said I was ok without this upgrade it was revealed they actually did not have our booked room available and were attempting to manpower us into a less desirable room by saying it was modernized. We took that room then moved to a king room the next day which had exactly the same level of upgrades. I didn’t like being lied to and maneuvered and would have been fine with a truthful explanation that they had run out of the kings but were providing a complimentary breakfast as a thank you for our understanding. Instead, we started off immediately on the wrong foot. After this, things were fine.

I checked in with my same sex partner. (Literally standing next to me.) I confirmed i ordered a king size bed but the staff member felt the need to say. “Ok are you sure you don’t want two queen beds.” I’m now standing next to the door listening to security try to clear some fight in the hallway outside my room door. This hotel is lipstick on a pig. I’ll never return.

Great overnight in the city

Fairmont has done a great job of updating/refreshing the Royal York. The lobby is beautiful. There is a beautiful bar in the centre and a lovely bar/restaurant along the side. We had a delicious lunch by the fireplace in the bar on the side. A pianist was playing the entire time we were there. The room was very fresh and clean with a nice updated look. It was very quiet and the black-out curtains worked like a charm.
