A nice welcome treat to see tunnets tea cakes, coffee was fresh and presented lovely.
Manager was very friendly and went out of her way to make sure we were happy.
Lovely room and shower. Friendly staff. Easy check in and check out. Pancakes not very fresh and juices not replenished but otherwise was very good breakfast.
Room was clean but very dusty and requiring some painting/cracks covered but overall extremely well decorated & modern! Breakfast was nice but jucuzzi out of order

Bit of a mixed bag here. For first night given a room which on asking for upgrade was informed hotel too busy on our second nights’ booking so wasn’t possible. On getting to our given room for the two nights, happened to notice an unconnected electrical cable sticking out of wall just below heated towel rail and then became even more critical of this room. However, having been informed previously of no other available options, waited till next morning and, with a different receptionist on duty, asked again about change of room and pointed out the cable problem and two or three other problems encountered with the room and after some investigation another room was available on upgrade which we welcomed and took immediate advantage of. What a difference when we entered a lovely Junior Suite and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of our stay at Thainstone.

Beautiful setting. Outdoor jacuzzi enjoyable. Staff helpful and efficient. Beautiful old building but needs a general maintenance. Damage to ceiling of our room not seen to also damaged bath panel just left and supposed to be deluxe room 209 ! Also very elegant dining room with big chandeliers but to my horror most chair seats in dining room very dirty and stained which ruined the ambience. No allowance made for disabled clients many stairs from door to main hotel and also to lower rooms. Also no handrail on lower stairs.
We always love to stay here, but this year there has been a lot of changes that has taken away the spark for us.
Still a beautiful place, but the usual atmosphere when you walk in with the music (which is now not playing) use to be magical.
Once we had navigated the A90/A96 junction finding the Thainstone Hotel was easy

The room we were allocated was not what we thought we were booking as seen on the Expedia site when we spoke to the receptionist we were allocated the proper room without any issue and with a pleasant nature so full marks for this service .
The room although better, still had some issues which can be addressed with a coat of paint especially in the bathroom ,Unfortunately it does not have very good soundproofing as when the bathrooms are being used in the adjacent rooms and the rooms above its possible to hear the shower running and the water being flushed away not too good if the other residents have an early start .
the bar prices are a wee bit on the steep side I am afraid
Property was lovely as were the grounds. Not far from Aberdeen airport. But the length of time it took to serve breakfast let the hotel down. Unsure if we would return.
