The hotel sits on the edge of the grad Grand Canyon. Nothing can beat this. The food was very good. Staff were friendly. On the downside, the rooms and bathrooms are AWFUL. Stained carpet, beat up furniture, curtains … from the 1920s? The rooms a complete renovation and honestly if this hotel was anywhere else they wouldn’t be able to get away with charging $500/night - more like $50/night.
Historic hotel transports you to the early 1900s. Loved it!

Mattress was soft.
Complimentary coffee was awful and undrinkable.
Dinner was expensive and the food quality was average. I returned my chicken dinner for a new plate of chicken the first being tough.
The checking was excellent. We had a room on the first floor. The particular room we had was very small. Not much room in the space when you add your luggage. I don't recall seeing that the room was small with a full bed. But the room was excellent otherwise. The restaurants onsite and near by we defiantly upscale. The service was impeccable throughout the entire stay.
Everything was perfect except two.
-A Bar tab was made and charged to our room, which was not our purchase.
-We did have a mouse visit our room on one night.
Definitely a gorgeous Lodge with beautiful common spaces to relax. Comfortable with a feeling of warm hospitality. Loved staying at El Tovar.
Very conveniently located near the trails of the Grand Canyon.

It is steps from the south rim. Excellent food and vibe. Old hvac was loud and be careful not to trip as bathrooms step up..Would definitely stay there again.

The gentleman at the front desk and the staff at both the restaurant and the lounge were spectacularly nice, attentive and accommodating. Made us feel welcome.
