I can’t comment on breakfast as we didn’t have any… there weee so many places to eat on the doorstep. This is a lovely hotel in a great place. There was works right outside but it didn’t bother us as the windows were sound proof. Lovely staff who were on hand to do anything. Lovely touches with chocolates & sweets in reception if you fancied. Lovely latte on arrival & was given some great info on area. The room was lovely, beds comfy & I would defo recommend or stay again.

Great helpful staff! Outdated tiny room, definitely not 25sq.m. Black mould in the shower, strong toilet smell in the bathroom. Road repair in front of the hotel with a lot of dust and noise.

Truly the worst experience in the past years! We booked this 5-star hotel for our 3-night stay in Barcelona and were so deeply disappointed. After traveling the world for the last 20 years, I know what a 5-star hotel should be able to offer. Bed After a long day, we wanted to rest in the bed and noted that the bed was a standard bed size. This means that, as a 180 cm person, I had my complete feet in the air over the edge of the bed. The width is also far from normal, not enough space for two people to sleep relaxed. Beware, when moving, you will hear the springs and bedframe noises. Construction Noise The location at the Ramblas is good. Unfortunately, construction noise directly at the hotel meant relaxing during the daytime in a 5-star hotel was not possible. TV While wanting to distract from the construction noise, we wanted to enjoy a movie. This was not possible due to the TV not having a connection. The called service employee could not fix the issue. Refund After elaborating at hotel reception, no solution was presented. Very unfriendly and impolite management. Still trying to claim a refund, but Hotel Bagues and Expedia both don’t seem responsible. Each party tries to blame the other. Facit We spent $1000 for a miserable hotel and had to rebook a new hotel to be able to sleep normally. This 4-star hotel cost an additional $500. Hotel Bagues should not have a 5-star rating—3 max. Expedia, you should take better care of long-time customers—you have lost us

The hotel is beautiful, period. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had an issue with our air conditioner not working our first night, and was a little frustrated how long it took to get someone to look at it (request investigation five times), we then moved to the room next door and it was fine. Other than that the rooftop is gorgeous with great views and pool. We loved the artifacts on the first floor and the rooms were especially large (in comparison to Lisbon and Madrid). Appreciated the complimentary beverages. The wait staff at breakfast remembered us each morning and made our contributes to our morning starting great.

Wonderful welcome. Feel safe and secure. Lovely atmosphere from the start. Yusef greeted us and was so kind. Even changed our room on meeting us as thought another suit better! Sweets and umbrellas provided! Beautiful little art nouveau display great spiral staircase with super decor. Was so much better than the larger chains and staff were proud of the hotel. The doorman who had Saturday off so we could not say goodbye was also a. Ray of sunshine. Marjeritas lovely.

This hotel is dark and depressing. We got the superior double and were put in a room on floor 1 which had a sliver of a window. Very sad and depressing - not how you want to enjoy Barcelona. When we asked for a better room we were told there were only suites left which they couldn't give us even though it was 10pm and no chance anyone else was going to arrive. The whole experience was uninviting. There are so many other places to stay in Barcelona that are light, welcoming, and make you happy. This hotel is the opposite! Avoid it.
